Best economy seats on 77W

Flying BKK-CDG and back from LHR in June in economy; award ticket. 77W. One night and one day flight. I’ve always flown PE on BR and am rather anxious about my 1.93m / 6’3” self in economy given that a normal seat pitch typically has my knees jammed into the back of the seat in front of me.

So I would like to make sure I score myself a seat with extra leg space. I’m fairly certain being at the front of the queue when checkin opens is too risky a strategy. So I’m thinking I shell out the $100/flight charge to book row 31, 40 or 60.

Some web searches and the sticky thread here have not yielded me with any additional information on how to choose between them.

From seat maps:
- 31 & 60 probably have insufficient space to really stretch my legs
- 40 probably does but is near the toilets

What guidance or photos can anyone share on this decision?

I am 1.72m and find TG’s bulkhead seats ok, but just.

TG flies the 77W with First Class, so have look at TG seat-map, but also aerolopa https://areolopa.com/tg-77y the configurations is different to the standard 77W.

I’d suggest either an exit row over a bulkhead and accept the toilet proximity. Also check youtube videos to see if the emergency exit slide protrudes on not. You can also watch videos to see the toilet door orientation. Some configured differently port/starboard.

My quick picks:

Row 33 B/C and H/J seats look to be exposed to the aisle, so may be best - although C/H seats being bumped during boarding will be tedious.

Row 31 is in a mini cabin, but no clear winners.

Row 48 looks poor, but row 49C/H appear to have no one in front

Great site, thanks!

On the LHR-BKK leg, it's indeed the 77Y configuration. Row 33 is indeed great, but sadly not available for reservation. I'd say Row 48 looks as good or bad as 31 or 34. Benefit of 48 is its just 2 seats (traveling with mrs. gadget)

The BKK-CDG leg looks to be the 77B configuration. In it, row 40 with the toilets but stretch and 31 / 60 / 61 requiring further information.

I'll have a look at some YouTube reviews indeed. See if I can figure out how much space is where.

When you say "ok, but just" ... any chance you can compare it EVA premium economy row 20 on their 777s? Thats a seat I'm intimately familiar with. Too intimately, one could argue! Regardless, thanks very much for the comments.

As suggested above, I did some YouTube watching.

On my BKK-CDG leg, I'm on a 77B configuration - seat map
  • Row 40, the preferred exit row, is blocked
  • Row 41 D/E looks interesting, see YouTube cued up below (12:00 in)
  • Row 60 might be okay, but can't find any video of these seats

  • Row 34 D/E looks interesting, see YouTube cued up below (11:55 in)
  • Row 31 B/C has an odd little 'leg space' (?) icon and is in the mini cabin, but I worry I'll be tripping the hostesses with my long legs stretched out into business class.
  • Row 48 A/B or J/K are two-seaters but I've not found any video of the leg space there.

Comments most welcome!
