TG imposes new ticket/service fee of 350 THB since Nov 15, 2022

All,

Early November 2022, I was informed by TG call center that issuing tickets via phone/contact center/phone payment link would be charged an additional fee of 350 THB for international tickets. While this was no surprise after all the fees TG imposes on us since 2020, I could also understand their staffing situation they had throughout 2022, at least now call center has the same fare as web purchase, something that was never the case for the past decade (pre-COVID), and I am for one appreciate that.

However, I then noticed on my subsequent web purchases (not through call center) have a misc fee of 350 THB as a line item on my e-ticket receipt after Nov 15. This fee has never been announced by TG or I may have failed to receive such communication if it were communicated through other means.

Is this even legit to impose a new fee without informing customers? Was it even legal to inform customer one thing (tickets issued via call center only) and then implement something else on top of it (including web purchases)?

Please help report to this thread if you see this misc fee on your web tickets.

There's a fee for everything these days. Here are some...https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/ro...ice_Fees.page?

Link at the bottom of that page to ticket issuing fees...https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/ne...cket_fee.page?

and another...https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/ne...el_Agents.page

and even for not turning up....https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/ne...l/no-show.page

Used to be the case that Air Canada charged for a ticket to be booked through their contact centre, but if you explained it was a fare that couldn't be booked on their website they would waive the fee.

Note that I referred to a new fee imposed after Nov 15, 2022, not publicly communicated.

I assume that the fee was indicated with the price details before you paid for the ticket.
Many airlines impose all kinds of surcharges (including "air carrier surcharge") that can change over time.

I just noticed the topic of fees and linked to the large number of them. In my recent tickets the base fare is increased by around 50% because of, in the latest case, 15 additional taxes and carrier imposed fees.

Unhappy

Call center informed me today that self-payment method is no longer available (previously, this would be free of charge for customers who booked via call center and asked agent to send a self-payment link), therefore, booking via call center vs. web purchase would yield the same price.

As of Dec 1,2023 (I was told), self-payment has been cancelled and replaced by "link payment" and will incur 550 THB airline fee.
