New fees for 50% awards and Gold/Plat Upgrades

Was reading the THAI website for terms & conditions, and found this unwelcome news:


Platinum and Gold:

50% Ticket Redemption Request on THAI*

THB300 / USD 10 - For Member Self
THB1200 / USD 40 - For Award Nominee

* Effective for award tickets issued 1 September 2019 onwards, applicable
to each eligible award entitlement of valid Platinum and Gold status members.



Gold Complimentary Upgrade Request on THAI**

THB 1800 / USD60 for Regional Zone 1-6
THB 3600 / USD120 for Intercontinental zone 7-9

** Effective for Gold Complimentary Upgrades requested
from 1 December 2019 onwards, applicable to each
valid Gold member who is entitled to use the Complimentary
Upgrades.

Thai-Kiwi - Thank you for posting this unwelcome news. This has not been a good last month - UA makes elite status much more expensive next year and TG now charges more for their (modest) FF benefits.

In my opinion the cost is peanuts and would not stop me using either ticket.

120 USD for a complimentary upgrade, complimentary is defined in the Dictionary but there are always airline apologists around

The race to the bottom continues but TG is still a pretty good scheme. We are consistently getting low cost premium travel from ROP. I have fished around but cannot find anything better for someone traveling twice yearly from NZ to Europe in J, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction?
