TG cancels fight with no information

Was unable to check in online for my flight to HKG, scheduled for today, no information on their website & no contact from them at all

FR24 shows the flight as cancelled

This for a J pax *A Gold.

Whilst I fully realise HKG airport closure yesterday caused problems, providing zero information is terrible

What a pathetic excuse for an airline TG has become

Thai airways began to post updates on 12 August 2019 about the cancellation of flights to from HKG and announced that flights are resumed today 13 August 2019 with exception of TG 603 which was still canceled

All airlines are different, with different service levels.
Frankly, you should simply adjust your expectations, and vigilantly watch your flights for updates (instead of assuming or hoping for the airline to contact you).
Welcome to Asia by the way, and just adjust.

That information was too late for me, you cannot leave it to the last minute

Indeed & TG is up there with the worst of them & as a FF thatís what I was doing, TG website said my ticket was invalid, itís the return portion...... no flight info for my flight on TG.com..... FR24 said itís cancelled, TG call centre didnít pick up, so I made alternative arrangements

May I ask you what is your flight? And what did the channel you purchase this ticket - via TG online portal, travel agent or others?

TG portal, itís the return portion, so the booking office is HKG.

Maybe the TG staff at HKG is too busy rebooking pax etc to notify pax individually that their flight is cancelled?

IMO you are expecting too much in a extraordinary situation like this.

HKG shut down in the afternoon on 12 August 2019 and TG posted this on 12 August 2019 with update on 13 August 2019. How is this last minute?

Seems like just another unfounded rant against an airline during circumstances outside of its control... Nothing to see here, let's move on

I don't know your flight but from BKK flight status, all TG flights to HKG are operated/scheduled as normal today.

TG 600 departed 09:12 (1 hour 12 minutes late)
TG 628 departed 11:02 (17 minutes late)
TG 638 departed on-time
TG 606 schedule on-time
TG 602 schedule on-time

no - I fully agree that Thais communication behaviour or policy is "subterranean" - meanwhile we all have gotten used to much higher standards with other airlines such as e.g. Lufthansa even in exceptional special cirumstances and if Thai will survive they have to take a much more customer-focused new approach in communications.....

This cries out for an IT solution which would have auto-notified all passengers the second the flight was cancelled. But, that is a long ways away. In massive IRROPS, whether due to political unrest or weather, having such systems in place, takes a burden of staff and at least notifies customers.
