My wife alerted me to this story doing the rounds on Thai social media.

According to the news, the incident happened after landing. The police don't take the incident too seriously and believe the incident was some kind of common conflict among colleagues. Captain must really be hungry and just lost it

what would you expect should the police do in this case?
conficscate the captain's snack and initiate a forensic investigation?
protective custody for the flight attendant

No, I didn't expect the police to do anything. I believe it must be one of those colleague quarrel too (maybe with a bit physical), nothing more. Just that it got in to the news that make the matter seems larger than it really is

who would expect the police to do anything, it happened in Thailand....
Anywhere else,for example , EU or USA it’s a major problem, a Captain, allegedly assaulting a crew member

I agree with Chris63 . . . in the US there would likely have been an arrest for assault. You're not allowed to hit people. it's a crime.

sure hitting other people is a crime and need to be prosecuted if the culprit confess or if there are witness

in certain countries/cultures police do not take slapping serious as it was or still is used as a measure for education...

According to recent news on the matter, the crew reported the incident to the police but did not want to press charge. He only wanted to have the police report as evidence so he could use it to report to Thai Airways. Thai Airways has already investigated the matter. The crew has already come to terms with the captain and he is not going to press anything further. Case closed, I guess?

Ultimately it’s up to the injured party if they won’t press charges.

Thats the criminal matter, then there is the employment matter, since it’s obviously gross misconduct
