Likely misconnect in BKK - what will happen?

booked BLR-BKK-TPE this morning on TG 326 and then TG 632. We were scheduled to land in BKK at 6:15, and TPE flight leaves at 8:15. We’re sittign here in BLR waiting for the inbound aircraft, which isn’t scheduled to arrive until ~2. They are saying we’ll depart at 3 - exactly 2 hours late, which if that happens will land at exactly the same time as my TPE flight. I’ve tried to see if staff here would help to protect us on a later flight, but they keep saying to deal with it in BKK.

Many thoughts on what is likely to happen? Is it possible they’ll hold the flight and rush us through to it? If not, And we need to rebook, will they insist we wait for next TG flight (not until ~5pm). Or will they put us on an earlier EVA flight (there’s one at noon, appears sold out through, and another at 2:30 with space). Would they consider putting us in another carrier that isn’t in *? I’m used to Traveling in the US, where they’ll work with you as soon as a flight is delayed and causing a misconnect to offer a different routing if available.

Espeically considering we’re traveling wih an infant and toddler, it makes the overnight flights ex-India not great on the days when everything goes right (and with the exception of bus fares at BKK, I’ve found most trips they do). But obviously hoping we can get there and settled in as soon as possible.

Let us know how it goes!

it is rather unlikely that they will delay the flight to TPE except there are more passengers than just you affected and delay is not longer than 45 minutes or so.
They are able to rush you directly to your connecting plane within 15 minutes, luggage inclusive

if you can't make it normally you will be on the second flight to TPE that day. It depends on your negotiation skills and the arguments (infant and toddler), whether they will put you on the earlier EVA flight, i do not think they will put you on another flight as most are by budget airlines, which leave from Don Muang Airport (except China Airlines). Maybe they will provide you lounge access or other special care...

hope everything goes well and let us know of the outcome...

flightradar24 shows that TG326 BLR BKK arrived 2h20 late at 0835 and TG632 BKK TPE left 0852, slightly late...theoretically possible that OP made it, if TG goes the extramile

Thanks, everyone.

Yes, we arrived almost two and a half hours late. Missed the connection...not even close.

What ended up happening was there was tons of TG staff at the gate fro probably every city where people missed connections, with the alternate flights we were to take. For us to Taipei, we were surprisingly booked on the CI flight at 10:55, which was probably about the best outcome from a time perspective. I'll leave comments about the ratty old 747 interior, etc, because I really was impressed that they had it all so organized and everything ready. The staff then escorted us to transit security and the CI transfer desk to get new BPs etc. But with the length of time it took, our 2 hours was basically doing those formalities. Then over to the new gate.

I was thinking they would prefer a *A flight on EVA. The 12:00n flight was full, there was still a 2:40. But glad they got us out as fast as possible.

thanks for the feedback and good to hear you made it without further delay on a relative early connection.
and yes CI would be beside the budget airlines my last choice for this destination

Perhaps CI was 'cheapest', as well as the quickest (for you). But a good outcome, and thanks for the quick feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know TG will put you on alternative carriers if need be.

If you were on a paid ticket (not award) you may still be able to request the original miles for the BKK-TPE sector.

Every once in a while, TG overstaffing comes in handy!
