Gold award 2019

ROP told me today that the 50% miles discount offer for Gold cards will be back again in 2019. Thai was a bit late in announcing it this year. Bookings for next year will be accepted from 24 December. As before, the offer applies to one return booking only though this can contain several sectors.

Was also told same info by staff at ROP Gold office yesterday
Also mentioned was that an email advising this would be sent out...

Yes, but it needed to be taken on your actual month, or a month either side. This non-promulgated benefit is fine by me.

Also I note that the online award booking engine on ROP site now shows how many award seats are available, rather than just availability or not. Small improvement.

Thanks for that information. Last year I had an email from [email protected] announcing "Your Gold gift in 2018"

The email was sent on 24th April!

announcement 8 months in advance...that must have been another airline, not TG!

It was four months late, and titled "Your Gold gift in 2018"

Apologies for the confusion.

I can confirm 50% gold award is available, I used it yesterday on a business award. 2019 benefit starting January 1, 2019.

Cheers,

me too, AKL-BKK-ZRH return for Mrs TK. Me to use GUP for the same journey.

THAI staff havent ticketed yet as they say it isnt loaded in my profile (?). My ROP Gold just renewed on Dec 31.

Update. Both 50% award for Mrs TK, and GUP1 for me have been processed AKL-BKK-ZRH//ZRH-BKK-AKL by the Auckland office. I did need to buy 14000 miles for EUR500 for the Mrs.

Have managed to get 7/8 sectors on the preferred dates, with only the final BKK-AKL sector seeing us traveling a day apart - I need to be at work the day later, but Mrs TK is happy for another day in Bangkok (home for her anyway).

As I noted in another thread, the K class economy airfare that GUP can be applied to is quite a bit more expensive, by around EUR 350. Specifically fare basis K1LENZ (can GUP) around EUR 1400 vs fare basis KL3MNZE (can't GUP) EUR 1050. I note Australia has this restriction on some promotional K/T fares, but not sure how wide this is. A little annoying that a K fare suitable forGUP is more expensive that a Q fare that cannot be GUPed - but that is the system....

In the big picture, we are happy that for a total of around EUR 2000, we have 2 business class return flights that would have cost a total of EUR 8500.

Hi! Do you know whether the GUP can be used for a multi-stop instead of a RT? In my case it would be a TG booking BKK-PVG, HKG-BKK. Thanks!
