TG price increase

New on this forum.

Did TG recently increased their prices?

I'm based in HK, and flying with TG since 2014. I switched from CX to TG due to a bad experience with CX. I fly for work around four times a month, 80% C class.

I wanted to book my roundtrip from HKG -BKK- CMB, and its around 13,000HKD, while back in August I paid for the same route 9,000HKD. Was checking other routes as well. Roundtrip HKG - BKK - FRA, last year 23,000HKD, now 28,000HKD. HKG - BKK - SYD is even worse. Last year 16,000HKD, now 21,000HKD.

Is this because of the fuel prices? Always loved TG because their C class was much cheaper than CX, SQ, etc.

Fares change all the time. It could also be inventory.

HKG-BKK is a little cheaper than it was a few months ago.

How far in advance are you looking? THAI are very slow to load ‘proper’ fares compared to competitors.

Two weeks for the HKG - BKK - CMB flight. Frankfurt flight 1.5 months in advance.

Doesn't really matter with Thai. I usually book all my trips a week in advance. Had always a good price, until now. I assume its because of the fuel prices.

as much as I know,Thai hasn't increased the fares recently - but its probably to come soon.
Fuel surcharge was reintroduced last year and has already twice been substantially increased since then

What Fuel surcharge ? Ticket prices didn't come down when fuel prices did a couple of years ago
Looks like premium passengers are taking the brunt whilst Thai aims to be competitive in economy where most of their passengers are seated
To be fair it's not just Thai, I've noticed Emirates push their prices up too.

TG definitely added the fuel surcharge. They didn't do it a couple of years, for whatever reason.

It's a shame though, their prices were very attractive for C class. Good times are over.
