What Routes wil Have 747s Thru 2019 & When Will They Be Gone?

What Thai routes will have 747s though 2019 & when will the 747 be gone?

A sad farewell.

nobody knows
Maybe one flight to SYD remains
MUC definitely gone
Maybe one of the two daily to one of the main Japanese destinations NRT, HND or KIX
other than that on routes, where they do not sell F like BOM, DPS

expect them also more during maintenance cycles on flights to Europe, where they operate 77w (ZRH got it occasionally this year for a few days)...good opportunity to catch an F seat while flying J (like me in a few days)

I'm flying HND-BKK-SYD in Jan 2019 and it appears to both be in 747-400s. Although routesonline would suggest otherwise. The HND-BKK route (TG660/661) is currently being operated by the A350-900, would they go back to the 747 or have they just not updated their reservation system out to Jan 2019?

HND and NRT have two daily flights each and there were always quite frequent changes of the aircraft...so nobody knows. So you can look out for all 4 flight numbers from Tokyo and select the most suitable

Two 77W would be needed to do daily BKK-MUC, where did TG pull the aircraft from? The last 77W delivered was Sep 15.

And talking about new ac deliveries, the last on the order book was delivered. No new orders placed (as far as I know).
Do you know of any pending orders?

well there were some reduction in frequencies to other destinations (mainly Australia) reported in another thread
we will probably still see the 747 for some flights from time to time on this route as a replacement (like recently on the ZRH route) but then F is not sold anymore to MUC

MikeFromTokyo Sep 30, 2018 3:51 am

Is F no longer sold to MUC? I am looking for flights in December and I see 744 F.

It will be extremely sad to see my favorite aircraft on my favorite airline go. I even miss the 737-400, A300-600, and A340-600; but the loss of the 747 will be a real shame.

I hope TG will get more three class aircraft. J is adequately comfortable, for the most part, but what I will miss is the level of service and privacy, as well as the added space of the F cabin.

there was an announcement in another thread that MUC will switch from 747 to 77w and I see those from 28. October throughout November and December on TG's Website
agreed with you that it is sad to see another destination loosing F. Regarding the 747 (was just last week on one), I prefer the A380 slightly as much less noisy and suites are more spacious but those 747 have somehow a nostalgic touch

So, in the future, are there any plans for twin engined three-class aircraft? I hope so. It seems inefficient to have all of the F ground service set up at BKK for only the A380 flights.

Be careful, the third class you seek may be PE rather than F. This is happening with many carriers...
