Flying first class for the first time...how can I maximize this experience?

For the first time, I will be flying in something that isn't economy! I'll be flying NRT to BKK on flight TG677. I do fly about a dozen times a year, but they are all economy - sometimes YYZ to BKK, or YYZ to SIN...

How can I maximize this first class experience? I will be going with my girlfriend. What are things that a novice would not know about that could make the experience more special?

Thank you in advance!

Well, TG did give me a nice Rimowa amenity kit, and if you are seated on the right side of the plane, on a clear day you may see Mt. Fuji after take-off.

ANA First Class lounge in Narita with nice view; try champgne, wine and sample some food
get Rimowa kit and Pyjamas
try Dom Perignon champagne and Caviar
look at the preorder menu on their Website and you might try one (incl. some japanese dish)

I know they will give out the Rimowa kit, but do they also give out PJ on Tokyo route?

I have flown on TG677 in F several times.
1. You have two F class lounges to try (3 if you separately count the two ANA F lounges). None are particularly memorable, but if the first time, then I suggest you first pass by the United F lounge, spend 30 minutes or so just to soak in the first time experience, then move to the ANA lounge near gate 42.
here is a review from a popular blogger (link)
2. No caviar/pajamas on this route unfortunately.
3. The dom is definitely out in full swing! try to finish a bottle (or your limits)
4. Do the book the cook to order exactly what you want (link). I personally prefer either the lobster thermidor or the eel kabayaki.
5. You will get a golf cart escort from the plane to the immigration/transit desk. (not 100% though). Nice experience to see the stares of everyone else you are overtaking, wondering which VIPs you are (the F passengers)
6. You wont see Mt. Fuji from a Narita departure. The flight path typically takes you far from land (Japan FIR airspace routes).
To see good sunsets, chose seats 1K/2K on the right hand side of the plane. If you want to seat together, then the middle seats will be just fine!
7. The rimowa kit is cool as a first time collectable.
8. Just enjoy!

Are you connecting? then there is a whole chapter on the free massage for premium passengers departing bangkok

I was wrong with the Caviar, sorry; unfortunately no Caviar on the F routes to/from Japan
pyjamas: well on overnight flights (leaving around midnight) they hand out pyjamas, but not on the evening flights. guess TG677 is a evening flight
agreed that it is hardly possible to see mount Fuji; never saw it neither on departures from Narita nor Haneda

here a picture of the recommended eel Kabayaki, which I enjoyed

No, we won't be connecting. Bangkok would be our destination - although I read great things about those massages. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!

Thank you to the other poster as well for the picture of the eel. I should have quoted your posts. Obviously, still new at this forum

That Lobster was ex Japan earlier this year.

I went through my phone for more thermidor shots, and here are some more for comparison.
This is ex Sydney last year

This is ex Bangkok just a year ago. Not the best presentation.

This, FYI, is the thai set 4 (there are 4 different sets, with chicken/beef/pork/something)

And, I suggest to the OP to get this photo too! After take off, the Dom is sitting there in the middle of cabin in a chiller waiting for anyone to drink it (and the FAs will replenish it of course)

Will there be an express lane for immigration at BKK since I am taking first? Not a huge fan of the immigration line there. I am a bit spoiled by NEXUS in North America.

you will be picked up by ground staff at the gate and get a ride on a golf cart (unless you get a bus gate or D4 opposite immigration) to immigration, which is of course fast track. Ground staff will escort you through immigration and to the luggage belt. From there you will get porter service for your luggage until your mean of transportation (limousine, taxi, sky train)

Wear whatever you want as long as you're comfortable. Some prefer Chinos for flying. Personally, I wear jeans and a polo. Just be yourself.
