Checking luggage through

There are a couple of success stories in this forum. I was just wondering if it would be possible to check luggage through on 2 separate tickets, flying from Phuket to Bangkok on Thai Airways, arriving in Bangkok at 10pm and then leave the next morning on All Nippon Airways to Tokyo at 6.50am. We would like mainly like to stay in the transit area and not worry about luggage.

Thank you for any insightful information...

yes they will check through, but you have to tell them and insist and let them know, you will stay in transit area
they might be reluctant first but you have to insist

Just to be clear, on separate tickets THAI has no obligation to do this for you. However, they do indeed have a very good track record with this, especially within Star Alliance.

So, if there is a reluctance from a particular check-in agent, I suggest you 'gently' insist since you don't have a position 'of right'. Good luck!
