Thai airline hostess scam

I would be interested to know if anyone has been through a similar experience to my horrendous one.
In September, 2016, Ihad booked a return flight with Thai Airways from Melbourne to Phuket.
I was seated alone as the plane was not very full.
There was a fellow also seated alone directly in front of me, an elderly couple seated directly to my left and an Asian man seated directly behind them.
During the flight an air hostess walked past my seat and I went to get her attention and tap her on the lower back. This was witnessed by the four above passengers.
The air hostess in question, who was overweight and covered in acne, suddenly turned around and accused me of assaulting her and touching her bottom which was not at all true. I was in shock and said I just wanted to order a drink and tapped her on the lower back.
The hostess then went to the four passengers to try and get statements from them to no avail. In fact the American man in front said don’t worry I saw the whole thing and I will back you up as you didn’t do anything wrong.
The older man to my left also said it was just a misunderstanding and nothing in it as did the Asian man seated behind him.
Falling asleep I was woken by Thai police who marched me off the plane at gun point and taken to the police station at the airport threatened with jail, forced to sign a statement of apology to assaulting this woman and then pay them 20,000 Baht, AUD $800.
I was not allowed to call a lawyer or the Australian Embassy for any assistance or would be thrown in jail.
After writing many letters of complaint to Thai Airways from October 2016, I finally received a response to say that they had done nothing wrong and that I was intoxicated and abusive which is a total lie.
I firmly believe this woman and Thai Airways has done this before with the assistance of corrupt Thai Police.
I will never fly with Thai Airways again nor probably go to Thailand again as just full of corruption.
I strongly advise others to do the same.

You’re a brand new user whose first two posts are “never flying thai again” and “never flying Hainan again”. Curiously, you posted two lengthy posts 3 minutes apart, and the format of both stories are similar (just go read them). Not trying to discredit you or anything, but any reasonable person would find this sketchy.

Bo**ocks...!

If the OP's only other post is anything to go by, it seems to be more of a problem with him/her than whichever airline...
Previous post

This is simply too ridiculous to waste time on, but given that it seemingly an attack on multiple aspects of the country I live in and love, I'll bite..

That said though, I am pretty sure there is more to this story than is being told...!

If this was almost two years ago, then why rant about it now?

During the flight an air hostess walked past my seat and I went to get her attention and tap her on the lower back.
In which culture do you find it acceptable to touch someone's back, let alone lower back? Simply wrong in all aspects, and I really feel for all the cabin crew of all airlines who get subjected to sexual harassment as part of their job.
If you want attention, you speak !

The air hostess in question, who was overweight and covered in acne
What does this have to do with your argument? - is it offensive to you to be overweight and suffer from acne?? That's hardly her fault, is it?

After writing many letters of complaint to Thai Airways from October 2016, I finally received a response to say that they had done nothing wrong and that I was intoxicated and abusive which is a total lie.
I can see why touching someone's lower back, let alone touching them at all would be seen as a sign of intoxication.

I firmly believe this woman and Thai Airways has done this before with the assistance of corrupt Thai Police.
What gives you valid grounds to be convinced of this?

I will never fly with Thai Airways again nor probably go to Thailand again as just full of corruption.
Please do stick with this decision - we don't need more people behaving like this in our country

I strongly advise others to do the same.
What a load of bo**ocks......

touching an airline hostess and then you are talking of a scam?
and what does it matter how the FA looked like...
why did you not ask for the purser to clarify your "misunderstanding"?

I've put a lot of miles on Thai as an American and have never had anyone try to run a scam of any kind on me.
Second, I don't touch FAs or just about anybody else that I don't know. Your voice usually works just fine to get their attention.
Third, I have had numerous interactions with Thai LEOs and have found them to be more reasonable and professional (and fit) than US LEOs.

I don't buy anything that you're saying, OP.

Just in case the OP is genuine - touching a member of cabin crew is a big 'no no'. Any touching and you are likely to get a reprimand. If you need attention, use your voice, the call button, or another signal such as your eyes or a hand motion (in the air) - but never anything more than those options.

Hi OP,

I've flown on every single carrier flying today and I have encountered similar "scams" on all of them. My advice to you is to steer clear of flying altogether so that all those untrustworthy flight attendants and airlines cannot try and scam an innocent party like you.

the OP has spent too much time in certain entertainment areas in Thailand, where it is common to touch certain staff and thinks stupidly that same applies to TG...

by LEO i guess you mean Law Enforcement Officer. The abbreviation is not so common outside USA.
your numerous interactions with Thai Police, was this mainly traffic Police? Things have changed a bit during last couple of years.

Why on earth would you touch a flight attendant at her lower back to get her attention I would never find out in my life.

Keep your hands to yourself.
