Is there a way to know earlier what date and time 789 will be flying?

I have a plan to fly BKK <-> TPE which is the route Thai Airways flying their new aircraft 789, so I thought I should check out the new plane

With my limit knowledge on this, I have tried checking out on flightradar24 which kind of says that 789 is flying on 30 May 2:05 PM (https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/tg633). Then I tried to book a ticket on Thai Airways and checked out the seat map. The seat map doesn't look like it 789 though, since it's 2-2-2 arrangement (business class) which it should be 1-2-1?. I tried selecting different dates, but all seat map show 2-2-2 arrangement. Am I missing something?

Is there any way to know beforehand when 789 will be flying so I could book a ticket to be on it?

Thank you

Numerous threads about 789 being taken out of service due to engine problems etc. I don't have any inside insights (others may have?) but if I were you, basically I'd expect to be TGed.

When you try to book a ticket on That website, what equipment does it say? This *should* be more accurate than looking at the flight history. That said, you could get lucky and a 2-2-2 could get TGed into 1-2-1 at the last minute (in my case from 777-200 to 777-300ER on BKK-HAN) but honestly it could go either way.

Is TG stand for "TG change their mind at the last minute and put you on a different aircraft entirely"? haha. Is it? That's new to me

By the way, what do you mean by "what equipment does it say?". I thought the seat map is the only indication whether it's 789 or something else

Maybe I should just stick with EVA...

That is indeed what "being TGed" means, you're a fast learner
When you are going through the steps to book the ticket, somewhere on the booking system should actually tell you what equipment is expected. Sorry I don't recall offhand where exactly on the website.. (maybe flight details/itinerary details?? usually near where it tells you the flight time)

Ah I see. I did checked the aircraft indication, but it said "787".. that's it. Not "Boeing 777-300", not "Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner", just "787"...
So, 787 could be either 787-8 that I don't want, or 787-9 that I am after? I guess TG put it as 787 so it leaves room for changing mind later? Sneaky TG! Haha.
Well, I have just booked EVA...
