the end is (almost) here.
Bangkok – Sydney eff 28OCT18 4 weekly TG471/472 closed for reservation. 7 of 11 weekly available for booking.
Bangkok – Munich eff 28OCT18 777-300ER replaces 747-400, 1 daily (This marks the end of Thai’s 747 service to Europe)
Bangkok – Osaka Kansai eff 28OCT18 TG622/623 A350-900XWB replaces previously filed 747-400 (Overall 1 daily each 777-300ER and A350)

On a bright note though, some increases:
Bangkok – Tokyo Haneda eff 28OCT18 TG682/683 747-400 replaces previously filed 777-300ER (Overall 2 daily 747)

Can anyone tell me what the above means? I am booked on TG471 in April 2019 in Business - Thai web site shows no changes to my flight. Unlike those booked in F I would be happy with an aircraft change. thanks

TG471/472 is no more. Come 29 October the only Sydney flights are TG475/476. You'll need to contact whoever sold you your ticket and re-book

OK thanks - but if the TG website still shows the flight as operating how can I get it re-booked or cancelled & refunded. Unfortunately it is a Lifemiles award booking and they are not the easiest program to deal with in such (or any) situations. Also, shouldn't TG automatically re-schedule/re-book this flight to TG476 (which does not suit me as I will be connecting from ZRH but that is another matter).

At this stage I believe the service reductions are only for the southern summer period, with the potential the full schedule will be up again from April 2019 again. Which might make sense in a way that people aren't so keen to leave the summer in AU for the warmth in Thailand.

Once the April schedule is released you'll have a better idea. You could also call TG to ask their advice.

But without a schedule change/cancellation at this stage there might not be a lot LM will do for you. Once the winter schedules are published you'll be able to act. Either with a free refund of miles, or liaise with TG to get you accommodated the day before (if that suits you). Once TG protects you, LM would reissue/revalidate the ticket for the new date.

Just returned from a wonderful trip to Tasmania (via Sydney) and back on the 747 in F. Hopefully the plans to replace it won't materialize for awhile longer, as I hope to fly it to and from Sydney again sometime next year.

Once it does, at least the Business products on the A350 and 787-9 that Melbourne and Auckland see are fantastic.
IBstudent and BinSabai like this.

It wasn’t 747 on the TG622/623 in the summer but A380. A350 few on TG672/3.
So basically 777 replaces A380.

Can confirm, continued from Sydney all the way to Osaka, with Bangkok => Osaka on the A380. Nicer suites in F than the 747 I thought; and the huge bathroom blew me away as well

some find the A380 suites and some the 747 suites nicer. Many mention the colors and finishings to be nicer on the 747.
The A380 suites are anyway larger and the seat's functionality is better

While on KIX-BKk-SYD, I found the F class in A380 to age fast due to it’s light cabin colors. Service on 747 in F (for those special flights) was a level above A380 and hence I enjoyed it more.
But the best part was the F lounge in BKK including the buggy, massage and personal service. It was better than a private room in AUH EY F lounge.

TG475 is still 747-400? or 747-400 onTG475 is retiring? Is that why I don't see F availability on this route next year?

Per the latest from routesonline (dtd 25 Sep), it looks like they're keeping the 747 on the BKK-SYD until at least 31Mar2019. Which is great because I have an F ticket for Jan 2019!
https://www.routesonline.com/news/38...ons-into-ns19/

"Thai Airways International in recent schedule update extended planned service to Australia into Northern summer 2019 season, effective from 31MAR19.

Planned service reduction on following routes, scheduled from 28OCT18, will be maintained on/after 31MAR19:

Bangkok – Brisbane Reduce from 7 to 4 weekly, 787-8 operating
Bangkok – Melbourne Reduce from 14 to 11 weekly, A350-900XWB operating
Bangkok – Sydney Reduce from 11 to 7 weekly, 747-400 operating"

Just a note - I am planning to book October 2019 BKK-SYD (in fact, commencing NRT).

It still shows TG475 as 744.

We are wanting to fly F on that leg; any thoughts on what is going to happen with 475?
