Sounds like a consensus to pre-order and avoid the simulated eggs! Are there any favorites off the J pre-order meal list ex-BKK that folks have liked consistently?

I have never pre-ordered meals in biz. I just pick the thai breakfast option and have never been disappointed!

Lobster Thermidor is a favorite of many…
the Steaks (for example Steak Rossini) can be a hit but more often a miss

I flew J Lhr-Bkk a couple of weeks ago, the food was superb. When I’ve flown before, I’ve been very disappointed, but there has been a definite upgrade. The chill prawns was the best meal I’ve ever had on a plane, even when I’ve flown first, I’m going again in October, just hoping it’s the same

agreed
since the new samrap Thai Concept was introduced, food has improved.
There is still the occasional disappointement, maybe around one out of five

How is your general impression with TG J food?

Hi all,

I haven't flown TG biz class since they launched samrap Thai concept (yes I know it has been long). I checked the pre-order menu for coming 4 legs in Nov 2018 and I am not impressed at all:

TG 679 CAN - BKK
TG 934 BKK - BRU
TG 935 BRU - BKK
TG 668 BKK - CAN

For 679, 934 and 668 I can pre-order (same menus for all 3 legs):
  • Beef steak with peppercorn sauce
  • Seared salmon with taragon cream sauce
  • Pork in green curry
  • Beef in green curry
  • Chicken in green curry
  • Stir-fried chicken with garlic, chili, basil
  • Stir-fried prawn with garlic, chili, basil
  • Stir-fried pork with garlic, chili, basil
  • BBQ Duck with gravy and rice
  • BBQ Pork with gravy and egg noodle
  • Prawn chu-chee with rice
  • Chicken massaman curry with rice
  • Beef massaman curry with rice

Only TG935 only offers something more interesting:
  • Pan-fried cod fish in Flemish sauce
  • Beef Fillet with Forest Mushroom Sauce
  • Pan-fried Salmon with White Wine Sauce
  • Stuffed Chicken with Mushroom filling and Tomato Herb Sauce
  • Belgium stew of beef in Carbonnade sauce
  • Pan-fried chicken fillet with herbs in Liege sauce

Question: generally how nice onboard menus are these days? Do TG publish their menus online like NH? I can't find them in their website so I assume they don't publish them.

(I am not excited by pre-order menu. So as long as onboard menus are ok I am fine not pre-ordering.)

I'm pretty happy with the on board menus! There hasn't been an instance since they brought out the new dining concept that I thought 'I wish I'd pre-ordered'.

for J I prefer the OnBoard menus. Why should I bother to preorder. They are really ok and there are usually 4 alternatives.
Occasionally I preorder for F
TG does not put OnBoard menus online

Thank you, @LHR/MEL/Europe FF and @BinSabai for your prompt replies. Looking forward to TG (finally have a chance to try their A350)

If you are flying alone, 15A/K are the pick of the seats. The A350 is reasonably quiet and rows 17 through 19 have a lot of noise from the galley by door 2 which is used to prepare economy meals. As the pre-arrival meals is served around two hours before landing they start getting everything ready about three hours out. There was sufficient noise, over a long period of time, that everyone in the last few rows of biz class was well awake for most of that three hours Row 15 was ok(ish). Further forward and you have the front galley.
