It flew on all 747 routes including SYD. 747s are still operating the SYD route.

I wonder why they retire a 9F bird. These also nicer in economy. Or maybe not all of them?

That's not the way aircraft scheduling works.

While HS-TGY has most likely flown BKK-SYD at some time - possibly many many times over its lifespan, it isn't solely dedicated to that route. They can use any 747 for the service.

likely the cost of upkeep/spares or the aircraft came up for a D check (full tear down maintenance), and wasn’t financially worthy of this expense.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I’m proud to present to you, the last but not least, the one that some have fear from (if you fly F) and others are welcoming (if you fly J), a TG A350, HS-THN, the 12th and the last A350 to be delivered.

HS-THN is on its way to BKK and in about 2 weeks, we’ll know which changes are due in TG routes.

This is probably more welcoming news than not

Instead of ordering the 789, or in the future, it would be great if TG would acquire some A350-1000 with an F cabin (8 seats, 1-2-1 would be nice, or even 6 in 1-1-1) to replace all the retired 747s

Or 777X.
In addition, it seems that some of the industry is moving towards a single row in F (e. g. MH A350 or SQ retrofitted 777).

Yes, Or 778/779
But those aren't available until 2020 or beyond if there's a delay (like the 787) which is more likely than not.
A350-1000 is here today, and its performance with QR/CX will be known very soon.

Yes, yes, everything is possible but as a 2 engines jumbo/superjumbo replacement 777x10 has the most potential. After replacing the 747 something will have to replace the A380 too.
Nevertheless, you all know how TG loves fragmentation

Qatar is the First Airline to fly the A350-1000 - they've been flying their first frame since February.

Although technically possible to stretch the 779, there is no 777 "dash" 10 (if that's what you're referring to with the x10) in the works.

https://www.quora.com/Will-there-be-a-Boeing-777-10X

The 777–10X has been proposed by Boeing to Emirates as an A-380 replacement. It's a stretch version of the 777–9X, and adds an additional 12 feet of fuselage length, for a total length of 263 feet. As of yet it's development has not yet been green-lighted, and is still awaiting some interest from potential customers.

It's anyone's guess if we will see a 777–10X. However, if the A-350–10 proposed for Singapore Airlines proves to be popular, the 777–10X will likely become a reality.

Any chance this is where the remaining A350-900 is going? Or have we already accounted for this? Would fit in with dates...
