The 465/466 showed the A350 for a long time, TG updated this on a rolling basis (pushing it back). While it's currently scheduled for the 461/2 to go to the A350 I think we'll know more in the next few months once TG releases their forward schedules closer to the time. I wouldn't bank on the flight being an A350 at this time... opt for the 465/6 if you can.

Hi guys,

I'm sorry if this has already been covered in this thread, I've read parts of it but didn't find the answer. What's up with the BKK-MEL route. Does it have a First class cabin but with Business class service?

I have an award booking in F which include BKK-SYD and then SYD-BKK 2 weeks later. I would love to spend time in Melbourne as well, and I'm considering rebooking to get MEL-BKK on the way home, but ideally I don't wanna loose the First class cabin.

How do you book it? Do you book at business ticket and then you are able to a seat in the front?

Thanks in advance!

There is no first class and no first class cabin on flights to MEL. The first cabin was a limited time while they were operating a 747 on the route.

If you want first class you'll have to stay with the SYD route.

First class cabin with Business class service and at Business class prices!
as mentioned already, it does not exist on this route
and it is also wishful thinking. if TG uses 747 on such long haul routes (like SYD, MUC, even destinations in Japan), they also want to sell higher priced F tickets.
during all those years flying TG I have only been a couple of times in F cabin at J prices:
several times on domestic
2 times BKK SIN
and as highlight one time BKK PEK

Booked to head out on 465 at the end of this week, and after a period of steady 359 flights the last week has seen a number of switches to 77Ws and A330s along with a 359 that had to return to BKK.

Fingers crossed I don't get TG'd!

Edit: Didn't read one of the above posts close enough, diversion was already mentioned. That's a real bummer though, hope you have better luck with your upcoming flight.

77W instead of A359 does not matter. J is equivalent
A330 is unpleasant though...we get all too pampered with such switches becoming more and more seldom

First time I have ever seen a TG A330 on the MEL route Although they do have angled lie-flats? So in that respect sort of the same as a 777-200/300?

I understand that the A359 is being removed from the LHR route next month to be replaced by the 77W, and the 359 is back on the Melbourne flights. TG apparently need more business class seats on it's London flights, 42 against 32.
