FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

The date options I'm looking to fly show all window seats taken except 3K, which however shoes as blocked (on Expert Flyer) and occupied on the TG website.
Thanks!
Not likely to have been discussed specifically before now. A quick look over a few days shows that 3K appears routinely blocked by TG. THAI's website shows blocked seats as occupied.

The seat will become available during checkin at the airport as the seat is retained for Airport Control use.

I am booked on TG431 too on J but as I am not a *A elite I am blocked out of the first three rows. I was wondering if it is possible to get access to them during the online check in process, or on the day in the airport, if there’s still space available? Thanks in advance!

Possible to get these seats at the points you note, but (usually) you will be lower priority after TIPs (Thai VIPs), THAI's own elites, and *G pax.

However 'usually' can mean anything in Thailand

Hi All, we are a couple flying 77W to LHR and selected honeymoon seats on row 14. Our biggest priority is quiet seats. Can anyone share their experience whether rows 20 or 16 are quieter than 14? honeymoon seats are available on all 3 rows for our travel date.
Also, i see a bassinet sign between 16 and 17 on seatguru. Is that correct?

Rows 14 and 16 should be the quietest in terms of noise from crew as they are furthest from the galley, but you never know when fellow passengers may be loud and talkative, as well as indulging excessively in alcohol.

I would be surprised if there are bassinets between rows 16 and 17. I can't remember seeing them.

We flew in row 14 in the honeymoon seats and found them perfectly positioned.

A quick look on the THAI website shows the bassinets shows them apparently located in row 17 between the seats, which are non-honeymoon. So presumably there is some kind of mounting system. Like @maerim, I wasn't aware of the bassinet position until now.

This is good to know as at present Mrs TK and I are in row 16 of the 77W ZRH-BKK later in the year. She may hold a view on the (low) chance of having an infant immediately behind us.

Thanks all!
When i modified my ticket, i lost the seat selection.
So now left with 16 or 20 honeymoon seats.
Anyone traveled in 20 before? Inclined to select it as most of the seats in second cabin are available - implying it might be half empty.

I'd almost say they're pretty much equal, row 20 might be slightly quieter given it's (slightly) increased distance from the galley. But you'll have all the foot traffic during boarding.

Is it still accurate that Europe -> BKK flights on 777 will all have lie flat seats in business?
Contemplating a switch to include this leg, but travel starts later today so would have to do so quick.
United website lists the plane type as 777-300...not 777-300ER, which has me confused.

Thanks for any quick insight.

The non ER 777-300 that TG has does not have the range for European operations. So if it is a 777-300, it will be the 777-300ER and flat seats

There is a new A330-300 configuration code name 33R. This configuration is used on 3 A330-300 (HS-TEN, TEO, and TEP). The business class seats are full flat using Thomson seat similar to Swiss or Austrian business class.

Can somebody help explain what I'm seeing when I look at the 744 seat map within the app? It looks like all of the middle seats on the J upper deck are missing ---- not just blocked out. The lower deck seats are also only showing 3 seats for some rows. I'm so confused.
