FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

I see both the A330 and B788 on BKK-NRT redeye flights - am I correct that only the B788 will have lie flat seats? Thanks!

Some A330s have been refurbished with new full flat beds - code 33(R) if I'm correct. NRT was one of the routes with the new configuration but you'd need to check the latest via TG.

Here's the FT thread: First A330-300 retrofitted with full flat seat

Just note that the A330 codes are internal to the Thai system (330/33R/33H), and don’t actually see use on Thai’s website when booking! or on external systems for that matter.

The only ‘reliable’ way to check is to query the biz seat map for the specific flight date concerned, and of course the actual aircraft can change right up until the day - so it can be a lottery....

Where is there a reliable list of the business class seat length when reclined as a bed?
do they all have power outlets and USB ports? Seat Guru and those sites have become so unreliable.

I haven't seen an authoritative/official list of bed lengths, but I'm 6'3 and can confirm the seats on the A359 and 77W are a couple inches or so too short for me to lie fully flat on my back. So the stated 74 inch length is probably about right. Can't help on the USB ports as I don't use them.

First ever TG flights coming up in Sep, on a multi city business trip (historically my work travel has been almost exclusively OW carriers). I seem to have a good selection of a/c types on my itinerary - B788, 2x A359 then B773

The 788 business seat however looks like everything I dislike in business had product. No aisle access if you want a window seat and not massive privacy from your neighbour in any of the seats. Basically no doubt comfortable but kinda dated. I am a massive avgeek and therefore wouldn't normally even contemplate not booking a window seat (and I have one reserved as things stand) but I am genuinely contemplating moving to an outer aisle seat for this leg as I am not super tall and probably don't want to be continually climbing over someone's legs.

The B773 and A359 options look more familiar so I'm less bothered. But departing start of trip on the 788 ex LHR so want to have a nice flight.

All insights from more regular TG flyers appreciated folks....

Not much you can do about it I’d probably pick front row, bulkhead. I managed to avoid the 788 but i think row 1 has slightly bigger footwells? (UA with same seats does.)

Centre would be my choice, left side. This way no one climbing over you and away from the galley, sort of.

Smart money already seems to be on the aisles so maybe I would be better off with 14 F or J from the current availability. Not sure what's happening with 15E/F (ie that SeatGuru has them but TG don't). Maybe crew rest, or maybe just SeatGuru out of touch again.....

I am going to make the assumption that all seats will fill up anyway as we get nearer, so little point in worrying about sitting next to someone or not - it'll just be an added bonus if not.

Update - selected 14J for now - can't quite tear myself away from a window.

Centre block is much preferred from my experience. Window seat a bit ‘confined’ and quite close to your neighbour.

Pics from a review website, not mine.

Is there more than one 777-300 ER? I'm going to be on TG910 Boeing 777-300ER in a few weeks and it shows 21 rows of seats with 16A (mine) appearing to be the seat by the window rather than the aisle. All the seat maps I have found seem to show 22 rows with 16 being the aisle side seat. So what is correct?

Both are correct. They now have 2 types of 77W, the newest with a small F section, used mainly to LHR and NRT. THAI has not yet updated their website with the additional 77W seatmap.

You can search the forum for seat maps and pictures of the new configuration. Also some YT clips.
