FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

That is what I was expecting to see (and know I have seen it via some other web site, some time). However, using three different browsers, I see 2-2-2 followed by 2-3-2 in business when I click on that link. That is from a Windows 7 laptop. I see the same from an android tablet.

On investigating further, I think it might be a weird geographic issue. I am in Australia, and the Australian Thai site does not include the new config for the 773ER. However when I go to the US Thai site and start from there I do get to an (apparently) correct seat map.
I am in Australia too. I haven't gone to any specific website, just clicking on the link you quoted on windows using chrome and on the iPhone app both bring up the correct configuration. What do you get clicking on the link? Does it show two business cabins?

Well that is weird. On all platforms I have tried I get the same seat map. Yes, it is the one with 42 business class seats split into 2 cabins, plus 306 economy.

My interest arises because I have BNE-BKK-BNE bookings in J later in the year scheduled to be the new plane but sadly remember an earlier TG plane swap which led to an inferior plane. Not that there is much I can do about it if it happens.

It sounds like you are looking at the correct seat map. None of Thai's other 777 have two business cabins, only the 777-300ER (Cabin Version 74B1).

A great reference! ^

I've lost count of the number of times people come to this forum and say...'...but Seatguru says'.

I emailed seatguru about 3 times over 18 months to let them know that their then config for the 777-300 (recliners, rows in the 20s in J) was incorrect and hadn't existed since 2009. Finally they updated it 2 years after the fact.

There should me an immediate ban for anyone that reads this thread then says..."but Seatguru says..."!

agree! Seatguru is very slow in updating; in particular for Asian and European carriers

I am seeing the correct plane (yes, 74B1), but the wrong seat map. The seat map I see starts off with one row 2-2-2, followed by 2-3-2 in J. The correct seat map is 1-2-1.

Thai Airways International Seat Configuration Overview

Something strange going on. Can you screenshot it and post here? So odd. But I guess it wouldn't surprise me if there was some bug in Thais IT!

Agree it is strange. That is why I raised the issue.

When I click on the link in this thread I see:

which is one of the two versions of the plane that I see when I look at:

http://www.thaiairways.com/sites/en/...300ER-312.page

but I get an (apparently) correct seat map when I follow the link from:

I am totes confused. The image you have posted is the correct seat map. And it is the same as the one shown on the seatplans.com website linked from the TG USA web site. What is the problem?

Okay you have confused me! You have posted 2 identical seats maps (well exact same layout, just different formatting/colours). The first one definitely shows 1-2-1 in row 11 with the honeymoon seats and aisle based singles. What difference are you seeing in the 2 seat maps?

The actual layout of the 2 versions as shown in your first link are exactly the same (and correct I might add and the same as what you have linked in your second link). It is just that they sell some of the business seats to Scandinavia as premium economy (lucky passengers getting a fully flat business seat!).

The light purple is the seat, the dark purple is the alcove in Thai's seat map.

Dear wheresmybagba and travelislife,

Thanks for your (finally to me) clear and sensible explanations.

I indeed allowed myself to be confused by the coloring (and by occasionally looking at the 777-300 in the same coloring).

Sorry I was so silly. Thanks again.
