Ha! That will be the day. The insular thinking of the culture will be simply to hire from within and continue to switch titles in order to 'stimulate' the company. It will be a snowy day in Bangkok before THAI hires a foreigner with experience and equally unlikely someone with a vision and ability such as Amranand Piyasawat takes the helm again.
The problem is: its all political and management does not as a team but disagrees in many many things and even big part of the management seems frustrated....

Count me in as another who will be ditching ROP G. I've had mine for around 15 years now. This year will be my last. I've had it with the declining service onboard and in the BKK lounges, the dreadful food, old school C class seats in many aircraft, and of course the weirdness of ROP. There are many options, apart from a few short regional cities...see ya TG.

A curious line from that article in The Nation above:
One of Charamporn's priority tasks is restructuring IT and the reservation system worldwide.
Didn't THAI change to a new reservation system sometime in the last year or so?

They have just switched their whole reservations and departure check-in system to Amadeus Altea, and things have become more difficult for us (Award upgrades, Waitlists etc.)...even TG staff is complaining a lot about all handling after the shift to the new systems...
It reads as if they still need someone to blame for it afterwards.....

The only thing they seriously revamped is the ROP and we know how disasterously that went.
Having said that, IT is certainly one area THAI has to improve.
But what about other front end topics such as operational efficiency, competitive pricing and improvement in hard product. I think those are even more important considering Thai is on the brink of bankruptcy, if what is stated online is true.

Australian advisor joins TG's management....
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/gene...gns-on-to-thai
Thai Airways International (THAI) has hired the former chief executive officer of Oman Air to give advice on how to improve the airline's marketing strategy.
Wayne Pearce will take the position of commerce and marketing adviser, THAI board chairman Areepong Bhoocha-oom says.
Mr Pearce, an Australian, left Oman Air in February, 2014. He was credited with raising passenger levels and increasing the airline's on-time performance.
The board has also agreed to extend the application date for the positions of executive vice-president for commerce and executive vice-president for the aviation business unit, he said after its meeting on Monday.

I think the reservation is fine. Actually, it's Amadeus, which is the same as other airlines such as LH and NH.
The problem is that TG doesn't publish enough fares or publish noncompetitive fares. That's why we rarely find good deals on TG's web site.

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/news...s/etc/30299403 (8.Nov):
Thai Airways International is extending the period for recruiting a new president until December 2. The selected person will replace current THAI president Charamporn Jotikasthira, whose term ends in February. He has served as president of the national carrier since December 2014. Based on his contract, his term ends when he turns 60 next year.
Somchai Sujjapongse, chairman of the presidential selection committee, said the airline earlier invited interested persons to apply for the top post at the national carrier from September 19 to October 31.“For the sake of Thai Airways International, the company has extended the submission period for the new president until December 2, 2016,” Somchai said in a written announcement last Thursday. The committee will examine the qualifications of all applicants and shortlist qualified persons for further processing. The procedure is expected to be complete by early next year.
