As seems to be par for the almost non-existent customer service on the ground they have not replied and in fact the latter email was deleted. It wasn’t even a complaint, just an enquiry.

I am probably being unduly concerned but as Thai are so unpredictable what are the chances that they could cancel flights from LHR in August?
I very much doubt they will cancel flights in August. Remember also the flight out TG916 may well be fairly full.

Looks like Thai's A380 from 01 Dec is cancelled. And replaced by '747'.

1 x 747 & 1 x 346. Absolutely no sense.

Do they just roll a dice at the beginning of each month and allocate each aircraft to a route accordingly?

Hard to understand indeed. Maybe delivery of the aircraft was postponed, but in such a case why cancel and not postpone ?

I think the use of "canceled" here is ambiguous. You mean the A380 has been replaced with a 747? I'm holding an F award ticket for this route, so I would like to try the A380, but who knows what might happen this far out. It really depends on the aircraft delivery schedule, right?

One question. When it lists the flight as the 747 "All Series", does that mean it's the one with 10 F seats?

LHR A380 flights are now delayed till October 2014. For the time being, it will be operating the route with a retrofitted 747 and a A340-600. I wonder why not stick with two retrofitted 747s given the Xmas period would have more passengers.

All series = 9 F seats (Newest version) but it has 1 remaining in the very old F seats.
744 = 10 F seats

Well, they have cancelled the A380 on the LHR route a very short time after announcing and scheduling it. Obviously not the actual flight (yet).

But as ever with Thai, as you says who knows what may happen. The aircraft vary twice a year on this route, and a lot of people were hoping for Premium Aircraft on this route. It's just the scheduling of the A380 got us LHR folk all excited, even moist. It's the disappointment that hurts the most

I read the news yesterday and it mentioned that THAI switches the A380 from LHR route to Japan routes because Thai nationals've just received the tourist visa exempted for 15 days from Japan government.

The reason given for originally moving the A346's onto this route was the increased capacity for J class.
The B747-400 accommodates nine passengers in first, 40 in business and 325 in economy class. On the other hand, the A340-600 seats eight in first, 60 in business and 199 in economy class.

That may be a factor in deciding where to deploy the A380 now that it won't be going to London - but I think that, and that alone, is not the reason why the decision on sending the A380 to LHR was reversed.

This is a daily saga! I think I'm just going to stop watching aircraft changes until 2 weeks before I fly for now
