Sorry for digging this thread but it has good news.
The authority has just approved the wifi service onboard Thai Airways after THAI requested this permit since 2 years ago. And it may be available in this September.
News link.
P.S. The mobile service is still waiting the permission.

BKK-NRT TG640 (early November) - 744 or 388?
Assuming no equipment swap, does anyone definitively know if TG640 is currently a 744 or 380? I'm looking for an award flight in F in early November. A dummy booking on Thai website indicates it is a 744 whereas EF and ANA show a 388.
I believe I may have read in this thread that this is a planned 388 route but it may not be in service yet?

- a crystal ball
- a reliable soothsayer
- monitoring of airlineroute.net
- an appreciation that even though an aircraft has been assigned, it may still never make it (for example the planned introduction and then withdrawal of aircraft with first class to both Brussels and Denpasar Bali... neither made it off the ground, or were at least extremely short lived)

Not working as of three weeks ago. Oddly, on my iPhone it detected the pressence of TG OnAir WiFi which showed free, no padlock. On selecting the network it took a minute or two but came back with the message, OnAir not available. I tried on the ground initially and about an hour into the flight.
I didn't ask the crew and just assumed it still isn't available.
