A few months ago, I had pre-ordered the lobster for my flight HND-BKK-SYD next week. I know it's not a popular choice here but hopefully, it would be tasteful

I did the same as well. Actually, I ordered it for my wife and I ordered the grilled beef tenderloin. The Thai website was a bit strange, so I emailed the reservations department to confirm my selections. I give them praise as their response was quick, understandable and in writing which is always good.

As far as the lobster, I'm excited to see how it is. I also have read mixed reviews, but I have also read that if you are not enjoying it you can always ask for something different. We are flying 1st you know. ; - )

Hope you enjoy it!

sure, anything from the normal menu if you don't like the dish you ordered.
preordered dishes are a hit and miss and not always the same. I had my worst steak out of SYD and some, not all out of BKK were great

Flew from Tokyo Haneda to Bangkok today (00:20-5:15). The fa came to my seat and gave the menu card and told they'd be serving soup after take off and then breakfast before landing from which I could choose from the menu. I then reminded him of the lobster I ordered and he suddenly remembered that I was originally seating at 1A and was transferred to 3K as the Princess of Thailand was on the flight and it was her "seat" I had the lobster for breakfast and it was actually very good, not at all rubbery.

you were lucky as at other occasions they downgraded all other passengers and reserve the entire F cabin to the Royal Highness and her entourage.
there are actually 5 Princess of Thailand, 2 daughters of the actual King and 3 daughters of the late King

That would suck! What is the compensation for a "Royal Thai" downgrade anyway? Maybe free tickets to the King and I...

I guess I've been really lucky then Only 7 of the 9 f seats were occupied on the flight, with seat 2A and 2E being available. There was only one person with the princess in the F cabin (sat in 1K) as I saw them dismembark first, followed by three elderly persons from Business class cabin, and then the rest of us had to wait. Not sure which princess was on the flight but I'm guessing she's 1 of the daugthers of the present king basing it on her age.

it might be ok to make such remarks on this forum but I would refrain on board of TG. Thailand is the land of the free, but not of the free speech

Hi Guys,

Im flying from BKK-FRA in the coming weeks. I am looking for suggestions for my meal. I do not eat seafood even though I know the lobster is supposed to be the best option. Any advice is appreciated. I am also considering just waiting for the menu instead of preselecting options.

Thanks!

Is the red duck curry available? I find that very nice.

Just be aware that even in F, TG offers no choice of starter, so most likely every course before the main will be seafood. According to some here, if flying F you could let TG know (in advance) you don't eat seafood and they may arrange alternatives but I have no practical experience of that.

the usual served Caviar is definitely seafood and I have not heard that TG would substitute it. Some just skip it as there are still enough with savoury, starter, main, cheese and Dessert
maybe contact them and let them know that you have a seafood allergy

That is what I was saying though...often the savoury and starter are also seafood with no choice offered.
