Not the end of the world, after all a First class meal is a first class meal, even without pre-ordering!
But their website is not good. Even our seats shows like not assigned, while the reservation agent that I called told me that they are assigned!

I can't get the old page (the one that would accept e-ticket number or TG PNR) to work, but the new page (TG PNR required) works for me.

With regard to the vegetarian Hindu issue - it can be avoided by doing things in a certain order.

Essentially you must not change your seat assignment after you have ordered the preorder meal...each time you change your seat your preorder meal will be changed to AVML. I worked this out when I sent details of this problem to the local TG office and they sent back the history of requests against my booking.

I pre-ordered lobster on MUC-BKK by calling LAX office. It showed online as Vegetarian Hindu. I got lobster on board, but I thought I had ordered "Lobster Thermidor", but got something definitely different:

Which was good anyway.

This mirrors our experience. We pre-ordered the lobster on both FRA-BKK and also BKK-HKG, and what we got on FRA-BKK was like the picture you got (a delicious bit of cooked lobster) whereas what we got on BKK-HKG was lobster thermidor (also tasty, but different).

Looking at my FRA-BKK reservation, it offers "Lobster Cream Sauce", not Lobster Thermidor. Maybe that's what you got on your flight?

I can't seem to get any of them to work. What browser/OS are you using?

I wouldn't order the Lobster Thermidor again... Tasted as it looked... The lobster was quite ok, the side order dry and tasteless...

No comparison to SQ's Lobstern Thermidor in C-cl ex SIN .

I recently flew LHR-BKK and back. I had Lobster Thermidor from London, and this was pretty good. Quite meaty and tasted nice.

On return flight, I tried a set Thai menu for the first time, and this was excellent! It consisted of Tom Yam Goon soup, fried chicken side dish, minced pork with basil, and Thai rice with an omlet and some fish. They also served cavier before this, and it was a lot of food! I highly recommend a set menu from BKK.

Both pages work for me, but the "Pre-order by e-ticket number" section is greyed out on the old page, so both of them only work if you have the TG PNR.
I'm using Safari on OS X Mavericks.

How far in advance can you pre order your meal? And can you do it online?

Great to hear! I love thai food, and one of the set menus will be my next choice ex BKK in F. In fact some of the best meals I have had in the sky is thai food onboard Thai ex BKK^
