If you are departing BKK in F, regardless of award or rev ticket, you will able to use the F check in, expedited immigration, F lounge, 1 hour spa etc. I don't think TG serves caviar on the shorter flights, but you will have champagne (though not Dom). Others can comment on the food.
When you arrive at the F lounge you can schedule the massage. It's not able to be done ahead of time.

I'm on TG 614 F in a week or so (in 2A; 2B is showing unassigned at the moment so we're not on the same flight). The buggy is fun if a little silly, but I seem to recall the gate is a little close for that. You can always ask. You will have the counter-to-door escort. The F Lounge isn't usually busy at that hour, so you could end up with one of the "private" rooms, which are simply well appointed alcoves. There's a separate area perma-blocked in case any Royals are in the vicinity.
The 747 is not one of the new aircraft but the F service ex-BKK is always worth the fun. I don't recall caviar on that flight (as opposed to SQ, where caviar, omelet, and Krug for breakfast is a hard combination to beat) or Dom, but it does beat the summer 2 class flights. The drinks will be respectable. If it's at all clear (which unfortunately you can't count on at all) there are some nice views from that side of the aircraft. Make the most of the F Lounge. No greeting service in Beijing upon arrival.
Doesn't sound as if you'll be back on TG 615. IMO the crew is often tired by then and service can be a little sloppy, but it's still nice to be greeted and seen through the particulars at the BKK end. No lounge access at that point, but the arrival is late enough that a hotel room looks much more appealing.
OT, if anyone who has made these runs can give me a tangible benefit of the Air China First Lounge over its nearly identical twin Business Lounge, I'll consider myself well-instructed.

First time flying Thai newbie. Just booked an award ticket in J CDG-BKK-KTM for next August and would like to know how many days in advance I can reserve the seats on the Thai website or by phone. Would really like to have the Himalaya side of the plane on the flights to and from KTM

Thanks; am used to KL/AF and their 90 day seat booking window. I assume I need to call because on the "check my booking" page of the website my seats are listed as "none specified" but I haven't found a link to choose my seats, or do I need to be to another page?

I know that TG leases 777s from 9W for the BKK-NRT and BKK-CDG routes. I really want to try out the First Class suites. Anyone knows how long they plan on leasing the planes? I know TK is dropping theirs next year with the newly ordered 777 with the comfort class (Y+). I am planning to redeem a F award in Feb 2012 and want to try out one of these planes.

Hi everyone,
will be flying ZRH-BKK-SYD in First on LX (ZRH-BKK) and TG (BKK-SYD).
Am I correct to assume that I will not have any arrival service from TG when we arrive from ZRH? So we'll have to make our way through immigration on our own? Is immigration even necessary? We only stay for 4h and then fly on.
Also, is there anything else I should know? We will have F Lounge and Spa access and should get an escort to the plane, right?
Is it advisable to pre-order food?
Thanks!

I tried the pre-order in F once or twice, but frankly found the on-board menu fine. Some have reported that if the pre-ordered meal did not look good, crew removed it and offered a choice from the on-board menu.

Airctaft type stats on particular route
Hi all
I know I have seen this on threads before but can't find it when I want it!!
What is the website I can go to to look at the history of a particular route flown by TG (or any other airline for that matter) showing the aircraft registration and type flown for that sector and flight on a particular day (or multiple days prior).
Many Thanks

You can pre-order meals AND choose to eat off the menu -- as you will also see in my trip report.

Make sure to take FULL ADVANTAGE of the Lounge and Spa. You will be blown away. See my signature below for a full photo trip report which includes many of the my TG experiences.

Just one more question: will we receive Australian Express Immigration cards if in TG F?
