Renting a car then returning to DFW to pick up other passengers; any toll?

I've been reading a few 7-8 year old threads so didn't know if the information in them was still correct. I'll be coming in at DFW Terminal E and wan't to go get the car at the rental center before returning and picking up the rest of the people I'm travelling with. Will I have to pay a toll? I assume yes but am not sure

Yes. If your rental car has a TollTag, it will try to ding that. If it does not or you have it in the storage box, you pull a ticket. Either way, the parking rates are on the airport website:

Thanks. I believe the car has a tolltag or platepass; one of those. Can I also say this is one of the silliest things I've ever seen at a major airport. A toll to actually go to the terminals.

I actually like it. There's no cost difference between driving to curbside at the terminal vs parking in the one-hour-limit spots in the garage just a few steps away. The result is that you don't have lots of folks idling their cars curbside or double parked, blocking traffic, nor endlessly circling while waiting for arriving pax to show up. Instead, you park the car and go inside to wait. It's much more civilized.

One reason they do this is to discourage people going through the airport to bypass the heavy traffic on the nearby roads. During the recent road construction at the north end of the airport I cut through DFW several times. Without a tolltag about one third of the time there was no toll. one third cost one dollar, and one third two dollars for the same trip from one end of the airport to the other.

For people who either are not rich or do not want to spend on tolls, dfw airport is the worst in world as there is no way to drive in to drop or pick up someone without paying toll. Even with a toll tag they charge $2 for first 30 minutes and $3 for first 2 hours. Considering all the issues with baggage, terminal construction even if you drive in after getting a call from someone who has landed, it usually takes more than 30 minutes. Chaching to DFW. It is even more confusing and degrading to visitors flying into DFW and renting. I will use and recommend Dallas Love field for this reason alone.

Well sure, but unless you fly Seaport Airlines you only have choice of Southwest, Southwest and Southwest.

Oh wait, Virgin has a few flights and Delta is still presently flying in, but quite possibly not much longer @:-)
