San antonio bbq
Okay looking for a local who may able to recommend the best bbq in san antonio. Currently staying at the river at grand hyatt and looking to try some texas bbq tonight. I saw other posts, but did not see what cities were local. If nothing around is the food at the chart house (needle tower) any good? With my wife and trying to have one nice dineer out. Thank you for any help.

Not to be snarky, but you are asking a hopeless question. First, it's Sunday so all the decent places won't be open. Second, any BBQ joint worth its salt would NEVER be open for dinner and probably sold out by 2 PM.
Your best bet will be Rudy's, which is actually decent. Their cream corn is awesome. Avoid Bill Miller's at all costs. |
The restaurant at the Tower of the Americas is a colossal waste of time and money.
As spankytoes said, Sunday is the wrong day for BBQ here. I'll assume/hope you have a car as there's very little good food in downtown. For a nice dinner, consider La Fonda on Main. Their patio should be nice once the sun has gone down a bit. Cappy's is also a great choice for dinner. |

And the Hyatt Regency has converted its main restaurant into Q - a carnivore's delight, and is getting some good press. |

Have also heard good things about Biga on the Banks but have not had a chance to try it yet. For BBQ, drive way east on I-10 to Luling. And don't do it on a Sunday! |
Biga is OK - service can be a tad spotty but most of the times it's good, and the river views are nice. Acenar is also decent. Both are also Rewards Network, AAdvantage Dining etc.

I'd definitely add Acenar to that list.

It's been a few years, but if he is still there Willard's BBQ is pretty good. Jamaican style jerk BBQ.
Texas Pride is also good but it's a long way east in BFE. |
Rudy's is definitely solid for a chain (and the cream corn is indeed legendary). Next time, take a trip up to Driftwood and check out Salt Lick.

The BBQ was excellent and the cream corn was indeed amazingly good. Very much worth the drive out to the outskirts of SA. |
