Box Pop-Up over Title of Thread?

Seems that when I hover over the title of a thread, I now get a box pop-up that quotes the first few lines of text in the opening post for said thread.

Is there some way to disable this feature? I find it to be incredibly annoying.

Very annoying indeed. Please consider doing away with it, or at least give us the ability to disable it.

Thank you.

Appreciate the feedback.

The preview post mouseover feature was actually standard in the past, but it we failed to turn it on again when we upgraded last and so it disappeared for awhile. Several members contacted us asking why it had been removed and if it could be brought back, and since we hadn't removed it intentionally in the first place we turned it back on.

Based on your comments, this one might be a "six of one, half dozen of the other" feature - some members like it and some don't (and probably a majority are unmoved one way or the other :p ). I'll look around at the settings and check with the tech team to see if there is a way to allow members to deselect it as an option.

Yes please. It is most annoying.

I actually like this feature; it saves bandwidth when looking at ambiguous thread titles.

I like the feature too, I can scan through very quickly when on a break to see which threads contain information relevant to what I am looking for.

Did you guys just upgrade to VB 3.8.0 since it went gold? I am wondering if it overwrote some templates to enable the mouseover feature again.

I really like it. It gives me a quick peek at what the thread is about (which isn't always clear just by reading the thread title) so I know if I want to bother clicking on it or not.

I can see it's merit for some, but could we make it a little less eager? I barely have to hover over a thread for it to appear. Very, very irritiating! If there was a slightly longer pause it would be less frustrating.

I, too, find it distracting but if it could be set as user-invokable, that would be a win-win.

I find it very annoying.

I actually love it. I don't have to open a post unless I want to because I know the beginning of what it is about. If it starts to get annoying I just move my cursor over to the far right. I hope we keep it.

A suggestion, if it is technically possible : the balloon pops up if you hover anywhere in the box containing the thread title, including the white space, which I find very distracting, and contrary to how intuition says it should operate.

Can the coding be changed so that the balloon pops up only if you hover over the thread title text, but not if you hover over white space ? I think that would probably be the optimum for everyone.

Great suggestion, Oxon Flyer. +1.

+2. An elegant compromise.
