Ads Intruding Into Forums and Threads
 

For the past several days now, I'm getting the ads that come up on the right side of the page covering almost one quarter of the side of the page. When I go to each individual forum, the ad completely covers the two right columns of the forum list and extends to the seventh thread. It makes it almost impossible to click on the last person's reply to those threads, as the small icon to click is just about covered by the ad.

Then when I click on an individual thread in a forum, the ad covers part of the first three responses, with about half of each comment covered completely.

While I understand that FT and IB needs the advertising revenue, does it really have to include the same ad at the top, side, and INSIDE the forum and each thread that is visited, making part of the thread unreadable?

It's happening on both Netscape and IE6, and clearing the cache and cookies doesn't have any effect. And I haven't changed any settings on my pc, so I assume it's a FT change.

Anyone else having this problem?

im also seeing this as a new problem. very odd. im using safari on osx.

I have this problem sometimes when I try to edit my post. The ad almost totally covers what I have written, so I can't edit. Can't figure out how to fix this.

Using Firefox 3.0.3, I am experiencing the exact same problem.

It's not fine for me.

For several days the ads on the right side of the page block some of the message when opened from MyFlyertalk.

It is annoying, to say the least. If I want to read the whole post, I have to reply to it and then cancel out :(

not for me using both firefox and safari but i do see them when i go to edit some of my posts......i cannot use the "simple edit" as the ad blocks the edit window and i must use "go advanced" to be able to see my post completely to edit it

Last night, for the first time since I posted above that the problem was gone, it happened again, when I signed in to FT. Don't know what brought it back, as I hadn't changed any of the settings on my pc. But I tried refreshing the page (took two attempts) and that brought it back to normal. If you haven't tried that yet, give it a try. May not help, but it worked for me.

just happened again to me.

I've noticed it happens with text ads only. The graphical ads, display just fine.

happened with a graphical ad today while editing.

and the same for me just a few moments ago.

The problem is ongoing for both text and graphic ads.

The problem only seems to occur on the first advertisement on the top right. Advertisements further down the page seem to format OK.

Typing this message is a nightmare because I have an advertisement blocking out half this reply so I can't see what I'm typing.

I was looking at this thread as part of due diligence before opening a new one, and now that I see the problem it describes, I'd throw in that I continue to have this problem often when I'm editing a comment. When it happens, I click [Save] before even writing, and then click [Edit] again back on my original comment, and it's gone --well, it's there but out of the way. Happened last, the day before yesterday. Now, to my new thread... :)

both yesterday and today and using both safari and firefox, every time i edit a post, there is an ad blocking the right half the edit window along with the save, cancel & go advanced buttons. the only button that is visible is one called "edit" (just to the left of the intruding ad) and when i click it, it brings me to the "advanced edit window so i can save my changes.

Again!!
 

After the problem not being evident for several weeks, it's happened again the past two days. This time it's the AMEX Gold Business Card ad on the right side of the page blocking parts of the first several forum threads then protruding into the first individual's thread opener no matter what thread I open, and erasing any sense of what's being said.

Getting to be a nuisance that shouldn't be happening.

How about getting a better fix on it this time, FT techs!!

This has happened several times over the last couple of days - over both vomments and PMs I'm writing - and isn't amenable to the "fix" I described above. In the PM mode, I find I have to "copy" everything I wrote and start over -- e.g., close and open the page again until it doesn't happen, then paste what I wrote before. Fortunately everything hidden copies. But this is a very long remedy.
