Profile information?
 

What's happened to members' profile information?
I'm thinking of things like "Interests & Activities", and "Employment".

Click the "about me" tab in your profile, and you'll find it all there.

Hmm, I don't see any "about me" tab.

But in any case, I was referring to other FTer's profiles, rather than my own.
e.g.
Looking at your post, I can click on your name,
SanDiego1K -> View Public Profile -> ...
All I then see is a send message box and a frame to the right hand side with,
Mini Statistics, Friends, Group Membership, and Recent Visitors.

When I click "About me" in my profile, I get:

I see 5 tabs above the "Send Message" box. They are stretched across the top of that space:

- Visitor Messages
- About Me
- Statistics
- Friends
- Contact Me

Are you able to see the same?

I'm using WindowsXP, IE v6

How very strange. Let's hope Mikel comes along and offers some competent help. Me - trust me, I'd only look at the screenshot and say "yup, he's right - that's all he sees" - but I couldn't trouble shoot. So for Mikel's benefit, here is what might differ between you and me;

1) I'm a mod. Have permissions been set up differently for members than mods? And if so, is that indeed what IB/FT want?

2) I'm using Firefox.

I get the impression not that many FTers actually view another FTer's profile...so it might take a while for others to come along!

I cannot see what you see either.... I wonder if you see more because you are a Senior Mod? I do not see any of the profile information.... nor the "About Me" tab you describe.

William, do me a favor and log out. Do you then see the profile information? I do. I tested it on this thread, and could see it for both the OP and me. (I don't see the tabs, though.) It's odd that I should be able to see that as an unregistered user, yet registered users can't see it.

Not signed in, I saw:

For jbfield: About Me and Statistics tabs.

For SanDiego1K, Visitor Messages, About Me, Statistics and Friends. Probably not the Contacts tab because I wasn't logged in.

Signing in, the page looks completely different and probably what Wharvey saw.

Hmm, I see. It does work for me when I log out but not when I'm logged in.
I cannot see SanDiego1K's complete profile when logged in or logged out.

Mikel has some more work to do! :p

It is a bit late in the evening for me to investigate any more right now though.

I am no mod but I see what SanDiego1K sees. When logged in, I can see all 5 tabs under both profiles of SanDiego1K & jbfield.

However, if not signed in, the profile tabs are different:
Two tabs under jbfield: "About Me" & "Statistics"
Four tabs under SanDiego1K: "Visitor Messages", "About Me", "Statistics" & "Friends" (i.e. no "Contact Me")

I may be wrong but I don't think the difference in profile tabs has nothing to do with being a mod or not:

1. I think the "Contact Me" tab is masked from all visitors (or not-signed-in FTers).

2. If no one leaves you a "visitor message", the "Visitor Messages" get masked upon logout.

3. If you don't join or make friends/social groups, the "Friends" tab is masked upon logout.

Well, that's my "theory" and I confirm it with my own profile. :)

The bottom line is, logged in or not, every one gets to see the "About Me" tab under the public profile.

Not quite.:D Logged in, I do not see any tabs on jbfield's public profile page. It shows a Send Message box. No tabs for you either.

Software Problems: No Tab Using IE
 

Well, this is interesting. I just tried IE and there's no tab under public profile when logout.

I think there are some software compatibility issues here.

A. User Logout:
For SanDiego1K, since the 1st tab in Firefox is "Visitor Messages", I only see one whole box, "Showing Visitor Messages 1 to 1 of 1", with the message shown. No more room for the personal profile (i.e. the "About Me" tab).

For jbfield, the supposedly 1st tab in Firefox is "About Me". When using IE, it shows "About jbfield" with all the profile info (Interests, Occupation...etc).

B. User Login:
We are supposed to see 5 tabs. Since IE is having problems with FT tabs, only the 1st tab gets displayed, which is the "Visitor Messages" tab in Firefox. So if you are using IE, you get to see the message type-in box and the message, if there's one left for you.

Since there's only room for 1st tab in IE and the "About Me" is the 2nd one in line, it has to go MIA. No one gets to see anybody's personal info when logged in.

I guess IB has to figure out how to solve the "unexpected" IE compatibility problems, now that FT behaves differently under IE. :D

It seems our new FT is more Firefox friendly. I always enjoy FT much better using Firefox anyway. Maybe those IE users should give Firefox a try now. @:-)

Last night, using safari, all tabs evident.

Today, using IE, no tabs evident. It's a browser issue.
