Weird! Some of my thread replies post in all lower caps, others not
 

For example ... Here, here and here.

Notice how not only does my reply show up in lowercase, but the quoted material is also affected. Smilies, too.

OTOH, I made 30 or 40 other posts yesterday, with and without quotes that were just fine.

I'm still trying to crack the pattern.

Here are some specs, if it helps: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13

I think the quoted bit is ignored when vbb checks for "shouting". Post all capital letters and it automatically gets made into lower case

You could get around it by adding an "ess" (white it out if you prefer).
