Error message when searching on OMNI

I went to a Harry Potter Movie 5 screening yest, and was going to start a thread in OMNI. But before doing so I decided to search to see if anyone else had started one. Search term: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Error message was that I have to have at least 4 words to do a search, so no joy. My search term had 4 words (even if you take out the and, the, of), so what's up w/ that?

I've had it happen a few times in the last week on OMNI, and in each case it was more than 4 words.

Is it a glitch, or am I doing something wrong?

Cheers.

Try searching with "Harry Potter Order Phoenix"

Thanks for helping with this Scott. SkiAdcock, you should just use words of 4 or more letters as your see with Scotts example. Thank you,

Thanks guys! Cheers.

PS - You can go to the thread now started in OMNI if you want a sneak preview on my thoughts/opinions after seeing the movie last Sat :) It opens this Wednesday.

Ok, so how do I do this search? I'm in the Marriott forum & want to find out info re: the Residence Inn San Diego. So being a good FTer I decide to search to see if there are any threads re: it before posting my questions (ie, what's it like).

So I put in the search section "Residence Inn San Diego" and get this as a response...

The search term you specified (Inn) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.

By following exactly the same protocol - merely omit the two words with fewer than four letters. A seach for "Residence Diego" (without the quotes) in the Marriott forum yields 24 threads, among them:
Marriott-family hotels in the San Diego area
Residence Inn - San Diego (Kearny Mesa Rd)
Residence Inn Downtown San Diego

You can also search for:

"Residence Inn San Diego"

or:

"Residence Inn" "San Diego"

In both cases include the quotes.

Uh Tim, if you saw what I posted above I DID post "Residence Inn San Diego" (and yes I included the quotes), and I got the error code which prompted me to post in this thread.

Wingnut - if I post Residence San Diego I could get someone's home. And are we saying no one can EVER do a post re: Residence Inn in ANY city?

Guess what - Residence Inn plus xx is a valid search, even if this engine has a problem w/ it - fix the search engine. I'd get it if it was ONLY "Inn", but it's not. It's Inn + qualifying info. Geesh. BTW - not to digress, but Hampton Inn could face same problems.

Granted I'm not techie, but I think the search engine should be able to figure out Residence Inn San Diego. Heck after the "" stuff, I even did Residence+Inn+San+Diego hoping that would help. And every other combo I could think of.

And wingnut, using your examples above there should have been no reason you came up w/ the search & I didn't - the "inn" existed in every search (even w/o quotes, & then + then fill in the blank - i tried several before posting here, so as not to seem like a nimrod).

Geesh.

BTW - not to point out the obvious but Residence Inn San Diego is not under the WORD length (4), but might be underneath a word length in terms of word characters (ie, the sole word that's 3 characters). I just did a word count under Word & RISD counts as 4 words.

Cheers.

Try it again, if you include the quotes you should not get the error you are describing (I don't, but do get results when searching on all forums). :) Thanks,

Thanks guys. Finally got it to work. And after all that no reports on the property, so will actually have to create a new thread LOL...

Cheers.
