multiple keyword search using "+"

I have been trying to use the multiple keyword search where I only want posts where BOTH keywords show up. For example, I want to search for posts with both "SWU" and "clear". I tried using swu+clear, but still get 100's of posts with just one of the words.

What might I be doing wrong?

edit: is the issue perhaps because SWU is only 3 letters and search does not like terms with only 3 letters? If so, search is kind of useless, since we live by TLAs on this board!

I get frustrated too with the Search feature. I put in 'Holiday Inn Promotion' or 'hotel on lexington' and get totally unrelated results-each result contains one or more of the words that I've used in the search. I tried using the '+' feature too and got the same results. Is there a 'help' for the 'search' that is more than what's on the advanced search page? We're told to 'search' for the answers, but the results are so broad that most times it's futile to look through 29 pages of threads. Can the search function be more refined?
