CommunityBuzz! does not display well under Opera
I use Opera as my primary web browser. There are two things that keep happening when I try to post on FT (I don't have this when I load up IE just to check).
First, the text box where I enter my post (for example this post) is strangely formatted and right now is only displaying about 4 characters across.. The second is that for some reason CommunityBuzz! is displayed as a really narrow column centered in the middle of my screen. The column has about enough space for a couple of words but makes it impossible to read that part of FT under Opera. None of the other boards give this issue. Any ideas? I'm using Opera 9.1 under Windows 2000. No fancy fonts or font sizes either. |
I think part of the problem may be the ad that is displayed at the top of the screen. It only happens with the CommunityBuzz ad which is the ticketsnow link. The column is about the size of the shrunken ad..

I solved the problem by subscribing, which got rid of the offending ad. Having the ad's server in my hosts file did not fix it.

I just became aware of the subscription service recently. However I refuse on principle to pay money to any site whose answer to defective ads is to recommend that one "subscribes" to get rid of the ads. That equates to extortion in my book.
Sadly, Opera users don't seem to have the clout in general to force everybody in the universe to code to web standards, rather than concentrating on one or two high penetration browsers. |
Looking into this, I think this has been a problem before in the past. Thanks,

We have removed this ad from rotation. Thank you for the heads up on this,
