Another post lost from Travel Tech

Another post lost from Travel Tech

Previously I posted regarding a post I had made in the Travel Technology forum that had suddenly vanished:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=611035

Well it's happened yet again.

Has anyone else had a problem with their posts being lost recently?

I'm wondering if we are perhaps having some persistent problems, particularly in the 'Travel Tech' forum?

Please help me to rectify this matter thanks.

Mark

doc, was this a post starting a new thread or a reply to an existing thread?

doc Nov 7, 2006 11:37 am

BTW, this post was something that many, many folks use and naturally what I'd thought was an important 'Travel Tech' post concerning IE7 and the new zero day attack threat just reported on Internet Explorer 6 and 7.

Since I'd suggested that the moderators may even prefer to add this comment to the earlier robust discussion on this same topic in Travel Tech (I could not, since that thread was locked for some reason [perhaps for unpleasant comments some members made?]), just to maintain an orderly and more easily navigated board, but I looked there and that seems to not be the case.

Why do these posts just dissappear after a few minutes or even after hours?

I hope this matter can be quickly resolved.

Thank you.

Sorry, chex, just saw this after completing the above post.

It was a new thread.

Here was the post:

---

Internet Explorer's Market Share Drops Slightly

While use of the just-released IE7 browser is climbing, Internet Explorer's overall share slipped from 82.1% in September to 81.3% in October.

http://www.informationweek.com/inte...cleID=193502124

---

I would contend that having more than 4 out of 5 users utilizing Internet Explorer to access the web 'aint' all that bad, is it?

---

New zero day attack on Internet Explorer

A new zero day vulnerability that is currently being exploited in the wild has been discovered in Microsoft software used to build XML applications. Users who visit malicious websites that exploit the vulnerability may find that code is executed on their machines using the same level of privileges that they have.

The vulnerability in the XMLHTTP 4.0 ActiveX Control, part of Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0, can be exploited on both IE6 and IE7 and Microsoft has acknowledged that attacks are occurring...

So, the security debate will surely rage on! LOL!

It's no secret that I prefer IE7 as noted in the earlier discussion here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/show...1&highlight=ie7

Please fell free to add this comment to that earlier, but now closed thread, if the moderators prefer. Naturally, I could not add it to the locked thread!

Your thread is now in OMNI

I am not aware of any tech problem that we currently have as far as losing threads is concerned, any inability to find a thread in TT or other forums is most likely due to moving/moderation of that thread. Please contact the Travel Tech mods via PM before posting missing post threads in the Tech Issues in the future if there is a problem finding a thread. Thanks,

How did that happen?

Is the FT server perhaps acting up?

Thanks very much for your prompt response Tim.

I'm sorry.

I'd never have imagined how this would be anything else other than a technical issue.

As I'd said, it has happened before, both to me, and to others, and most recently, as you saw, there was no reason to suspect that any moderation issue was conceivably involved?

Both the travel tech mods had commented in the last thread concerning this very same matter of lost posts noting that:

"UBB software isn't perfect and has quite a few issues which the fine FT admins have largely eliminated.

Still, through board software hiccups or anomalies in your browser, threads and/or posts may seem to disappear. I've experienced the same problem. That multiple people indicate like observations indicates a minor temporary issue with the UBB software. Rest assured, it's where it always was."

In any case, thanks again.

Mark
