One computer can't fully load the FT pages

I know this is a problem on my machine but any info to pinpoint the problem would be appreciated. I can't think of anything that I've changed or loaded, but who knows. I have two laptops that feed off my network and have no problems with them loading and using FT. My desktop, OTOH, loads the page but cannot load/interpret some of the icons, like the envelopes on the left or the arrows that you click to access the last post of a thread. It's a messy screen each time (useable but messy to read).

Any ideas what is causing this? Thanks.

BTW - all machines are using IE

For diagnostic purposes, see what happens when you try http://web1.flyertalk.com or http://web2.flyertalk.com

I've had similar problems using IE. Sometimes I have to exit and re-enter again to have the entire pages displayed. But rarely do I encounter them using FF.

Hard to say what may be causing that to happen on one page, but one possibility is that your computer has cached corrupted or incomplete images. Try clearing your cache, then restarting your computer and trying to access FT again.

How to clear your cache:

Thanks - I'll try that when I get home, but its not one PAGE - its one COMPUTER. All FT pages are messed up. I'll post later with the results.

Is it only FT or does it have trouble with other web sites as well? You arent using a very old version of IE on that computer are you? If it is a more recent version of IE, I wonder if some advanced features have been changed in the browser possibly disabling certain scripts etc.

It's a fairly new Dell (last year sometime) and current IE so that could be it - any idea where I'd find some flags to toggle on/off? or is it more involved?

Well, you can reset the advanced setting to the default in case they got fudged with at some point. Click on Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab>Restore Defaults button. This would at least make sure nothing the settings isnt preventing anything from being displayed etc. If that doesnt work I would update IE which has worked more than one time for me when IE started doing weird things...even if it is up to the most current version.

Thank you all for your help. I cleared the cache. Funny thing is I do that for all the hotel/airport/public PCs I use, even when its in a foreign language I don't know (deep breath, close eyes, click and hope it was what you thought it was :) ) ... I had a LOT of files out there and it took a while to clean up but sure enough, the FT screen comes up normal now. ^

Thanks again!!

FF & IE have been displaying the pages fine lately. But I noticed FF being much quicker.

From my experience, that is pretty much true with most pages when a comparison between FF and IE are made. :)
