Stupid BB question - Accessing FT-WAP

I am trying to access www.flyertalk.com/wap/ on my Blackberry. Got into the site...everything looks good.

When I was ready to type in my username:UA_Flyer, I realized there is no "_" key on the BB keyboard. I used the symbol key to find "_", but that "_"symbol doe not work.

Can someone help me locating the "_" (underscore) key on the BB? :o

I don't a BB here to test this, but a quick google search found the following:

Try hitting SYM followed by U to get the underscore character.

I hope that works for you. :)

Unfortunately it does not work. :(

Looked a little more, from the BB website:

Q:
How do I add an underscore symbol to an email message composed on my handheld?

A:
To type an underscore when composing an email message, click SYM key and u.

Not sure, maybe you need to hold down the SYM key? Or maybe the browser software you are uses a different method for entering the underscore?

Another thing you could try is if you can't get the underscore to work in the browser software, but can in the email client is copying it and pasting it to the browser.

Hope my suggestions aren't too crazy, since I haven't really used a BB myself. ;)

Thanks... I tried all the above, and no use. :(

It is frustrating that I cannot access FT when I am on the road using my BB..... and I really don't want to change my FT handle.

Head on over to Blackberryforums.com and ask there; I'm sure someone will be able to figure out this mystery...

Thanks. I went to Blackberryforums.com and got the similar information as the posts above.... and I still cannot access FT/WAP using my handle and password.

Is this a FT/WAP issue or problem? My handle and passowrd work fine on regular PC, but keep getting invalid username and password on BB.

Am I really not able to access FT/WAP because of my handle? :(

If you can't even get an underscore then it clearly isn't an FT/WAP problem, if you CAN get an underscore and it still doesn't work then it would be a WAP problem.

If the Underscore doesn't work then I'd start there, clearly something is wrong on your device that needs looking at. Perhaps a locale setting or a keyboard layout setting... It's been ages since I had a Blackberry so I can't offer any other tips...

The _ seems to work on my 7100t blackberry. The keystroke sequence is shift sym er. Good luck!

I have managed to used the "underscore" symbol to send e-mail addresses with "_" with success, and also use the symbol to access yahoo mails, but it does not work with the username log-in function at Flyertalk.com/WAP, unfortunately. :(

Thanks, I managed to get "_" to work with other application on my BB, except when I try to log into FT/WAP using my handle as username. FT/WAP keeps coming back with invalid username and password.

Those posts above reposted when I was playing with your problem. I logged out and was successful in getting the "_" to show up in the userid field on my 7100t. Not having a "_" in my userid I did not attempt to logon.

I think the issue may be unique to your device. Another option is working with the FT Admins on getting the _ taken out of your userid...

It also may have to do with the software you are using to browse the site with, am I right in assuming that there are different browsers that can be installed and used on Blackberries? If so it could be that you need to update or install a new browser on yours. Does anyone know of a browser software/version that they know works with FT and the underscore character?
