Post count not changing, sometimes
 

Earlier today I posted and my post count indicated 900 exactly. Then I posted again to another thread, and my post count for that thread also read 900. This is an issue that used to occur semi-regularly a few years ago, but I hadn't noticed it lately. But I can't say I'm always noticing my counts, although 900 did catch my eye. Obviously this is not the biggest problem facing the world today, but just wonder what the deal is. FT is a terrific web site. tls

I'm looking at your post o.... as of this thread and you are reading 907. I'm not sure how it keeps track, ie. in real time or cacheing every few minutes but it looks like you have gotten the full credit for your contributions to FlyerTalk and we thank you.

Note: for those that try and pad their post count toward some unrealisitc goal, we can and have in the past manually reformatted the post count of several members. I remember one member last year who was determined to get to a special forum and 85 of her 90 posts were "cool". I think we set her back to "1" at least 3 times before she caught on. Never did complain though. I think she's now trying her luck on eBay - they are easier to scam.

It could be that a thread you have posted to in the past was deleted. I believe when this happens the post counters for users that have posted in the thread are adjusted accordingly.

Thanks for the replies. "Cacheing every few minutes" strikes me as possibly the answer, because when I've noticed it, my posts were relatively close together contemporally. (Well, at least I think so. Ye 'ole memory ain't what it used to be. :D ) tls

That is a good point, we do use some caching of threads for improved performance on the site.
