chandi....this is not so much a technical issue as it is a procedural issue.
Current FlyerTalk rules are that a member needs to have a minimum of 90 days experience with FlyerTalk as well as a minimum of 90 posts. You’ve certainly got the time in grade but are a bit short of the post count requirement.
Here’s an explanation from Randy Petersen as to why the change was made:

What we value most on FlyerTalk is dialog about the topic of miles and points. It's in our history and in our souls. The Coupon Connection grows out of the familiarity of Community, which is actually a good thing. However lately we've found that new members have become members of FlyerTalk to take advantage of the generosity of The Coupon Connection. I have strong feelings that is not the best direction for FlyerTalk. As a result, we've instituted a feature of FlyerTalk that will limit access to The Coupon Connection to those members we feel have contributed enough to FlyerTalk to enjoy the benefits of posting on this forum. The idea that by posting in the miles, points and travel forums, members will better familiarize themselves with the other members they may exchange with later and have developed a sense of respect for the Community we call FlyerTalk. We feel that it's better to give first into the Community of FlyerTalk by way of content, advice and information than it is to be lined up at the goodie wagon. I feel that becoming part of the Community of FlyerTalk will go a long way toward enjoying the other benefits of this wonderful group of people.

chandi - if you'd like to gift them (as opposed to trade), I'm sure any moderator will be happy to help arrange this for you by posting on your behalf.

90 posts is a lot. I made a few, highly informative posts some time ago, and am surprised to not be able to see CC. I guess I will post like crazy to get access, and increase the signal to noise ratio in these forums. I personally dislike the "chatty" nature of certain posts, but if the system requires it, so be it.

Not sure that would be a good idea. Some posters have seen their post count move in reverse as "compensation" for increasing that signal to noise ratio solely to gain access to CC or OMNI. ;)

If you post a couple times a week, you'll be there before you know it :)

Surely, as a frequent traveler, you can post your own experiences, or answer someone else's question about points or miles.

tom911...thanks for the welcome advice.
Sure there are ways to circumvent the system and rack up useless posts. And we're ready to prevent this if necessary.
But we'd all be much more appreciative and thankful if new members did not use FlyerTalk as a means to make a "hit and run" score on a freebie.
The value of FlyerTalk is the ongoing exchange of tips, advice and experience in maximizing our miles and points in the various hotel and airline programs.
So I'd hope we'd all work together to keep FlyerTalk the #1 resource on the Internet for this purpose.

That says it all! ^

Once one qualifies for CC, is it automatically available? I qualify but can't find the forum.

wharvey Dec 3, 2005 2:16 pm

If you just qualified, you sometimes have to log out and back in.

If you use MyFlyerTalk, you will not see it until you subscribe to the forum after becoming eligible.

UPDATE: access gained!

I have 90 days/90 post; I logged in, I logged out; I cleared the cache; I scanned the community section for coupon connection...
What do I still wrong? Why I cant see cc? Do I have to wait a couple of days?
How many exactly?

UPDATE: Now I have access! :)

So would this post of mine be considered a useless post? ;)

(This is actually my 91st post, so I don't need it for the 90. Just waiting out the time.)

Yeah, that one is somewhat trivial. :p
But your post prompted me to look through some of your recent history in the airline/hotel forums and you've been providing some very useful and helpful commentary thus far.
Keep up the good work. Glad to have you as a fellow member on FlyerTalk.

I've logged out and back in and still can't see CC - have also contacted FT and no response yet. Any more ideas?

IrishRed Dec 4, 2005 10:29 am

Oops...misread your join date, never mind...

Are you looking under the Community section of Flyertalk?

It is showing as the fifth forum under Communty.

Just out of curiousity, what sort of items get posted on coupon
connection?

You would not believe the high quality items that are posted in that forum.... :)

They are so valued that we cannot post them here...

Just an example:

Car rental discount certs
Car rental free day certs when you rent for x days
Those pesky certs that everyone receives from NorthWest
Various airline drink certs

Just to name a few. :o

oneder Dec 16, 2005 9:57 pm

this may sound stupid, but what is coupon connection and what are the benefits of being part of it?

It's a plcae to give away your unused travel certs.

And maybe to pick up some, from a generous FT'er as well! :)

Just curious - does this happen automatically or do I have to request the access?

Randy Petersen Dec 21, 2005 1:13 pm

good question and the way FlyerTalk works is that all benefits that members can earn from their participation on FlyerTalk are automatic. No members needs to ask or apply. The only caveat is that on occasion we will detect that a members post count is not an accurate reflection of their value to the community and there may be a manual adjustment which means that the member might need to re-earn the benefits. This occasion is when we find that members try to pad their account to achieve these benefits. Any member doing that should question themselves of why they are members of FlyerTalk to begin with.

Sorry for the lengthy answer, but maybe your question can help others as well.

Best of Holidays to you.

TDBOS Dec 23, 2005 7:49 pm

where can you find your post count?

wondering how long it will be. I have a number of AA eVIPs I may not use....

I did exactly the same as you. And I still can't see cc. What should I do to deal with this problem? How do you get access? Help!

Tim at WebFlyer Mar 6, 2006 10:14 am

I see that you are now CC enabled so you should be able to access the forum now. A note about this for future people looking into this, when you have met the requirements for CC it may take as much as an hour for your access to be granted, access is granted hourly and not instantly upon qualifying. Thanks,

I just found this forum

from another board that I frequent sometimes. I take it that there is not way to post a "wanted poster" somewhere. I know a lot of places this is not allowed but the reason why I found this is because my daughter decided at the last minute that she wanted to go on college break with friends to Fort Lauderdale and someone mentioned the Coupon connection. I did not know there was a minimum. Hopefully someday I will reach that count. I am a lurker and love the info. Disney is my expertise. See you soon. thank you. :(

On or about the 25th of this month, you'll have your 90 days in and Coupon Connection can then be found here.
Clicking on this link will not work for you until that time.

cblaisd Nov 16, 2006 1:53 pm

You don't yet have enough time as an FT member to be able to see Coupon Connection.
