Couple of Technical Questions

First - I just changed my signature (way to much time on my hands ) and now all my old posts, which had a different signature, have my new signature. Does this have to happen?

Second - How do I copy a specific numbered response ( not sure if the whole post is a post or a thread, so don't want to use the term wrong) into another post.

Third - Is this the right forum for these type of questions?

1) Yes it has to be that way. The site is dynamic so when you make a change it automatically reflects that change universally.

2) I'm not sure what you're trying to do.

3) Yes this is the right place. :)

Let me try and be more specific. Let's say someone (A) posts a response to a question, and that response is number 6 of 50 posts. Then at another time/forum, someone (B) asks a similar questions where (A)'s response was an appropriate answer. How do I copy the link specifically from A's number 6 post, not the whole post.

I hope this is clearer.

Sorry to be unclear. I don't want to copy the "quote" I want to copy the link from the post. For example John at Webflyer's post is Post # 2. If I wanted to copy the link from Post #2 and only #2 and not the entire threads 4 posts into another thread how do I do that.

If you mouse over the post number in the upper right corner of a post you'll see that it is a link. I right click on that link and one of the options in Safari is "Copy Link." I know that Firefox has a similar option, in IE it's called "copy shortcut."

Then I can paste the link into my response:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...86&postcount=1

Is that any help?

Thanks, we're getting closer

I use netscape and it worked. Thanks.

To fine tune -
When I clicked on the link I got to the post, (yeah) but I did not know which forum it came from or from which thread it was. Is there a way to copy the link so you know this, and yet still be in the specific post?

Not an automatic way. You could use the URL bb tags and then put a description between the opening and closing tags.

Thanks for all the info. I'll play around to see what I can do.
