Usually, when I point my mouse at a thread title, I get to read the first few words of a thread. If it sounds interesting, I open it. ;)

Tonight, those first few words do not appear.

I think the tech staff at the House of Miles have been doing some tweaking to help things run a little more smoothly. By turning off things like this, it could help to reduce the loads placed on the FT servers.

Yes, our goal is speed for your posting pleasure. The small intro text you referred to was not something present in the orginal FT and based on some advice from experts in the field, we felt it was something worth testing to help the performance of FT along until we see the "fix" version of some other software we are running. I had posted yesterday a message from vBulletin which notes of serious performance problems in a recent upgrade of PHP which we did in Jan. So many moving parts.... but we have learned over time - speed triumps.

So will this feature be coming back in the future?
