very slow here

It's as slow as I've ever seen it. It took me 40 seconds to load the one page to see this thread. All other internet sites are fast 8:35EST

Speed is much faster today at 5pmEST, thanks

Me too :( On the ^ side FT is faster than its been in months (for me), but I am really coming to appreciate just how much I use search.

I dont know if others noticing but it is harder to reply to folk asking the "common" questions as not so simple to find the thread with all the answers and so instead I give up and type again.

Folks,

instead of complaining about missing the search function, have you considered that Google has pretty much all of FT indexed?

just enter your query there and add site:www.flyertalk.com

For example:

ORD-MKE site:www.flyertalk.com

Scott - Thanks for the tip. I didn't KNOW that FT was fully indexed and never thought about using google.

Why does the ipod banner load no problem? nothing else does. though it DOES seem marginally faster.

ScottC Feb 11, 2005 2:17 pm

It also works perfectly for adding the username to the search query.

Yes, I've used Google for this type of FlyerTalk search a number of times in the past.

It isn't quite as convenient as using the built-in FlyerTalk search function, but I wonder if the Google method actually gives better (more accurate, more complete) results. @:-)

Massive improvements in performance. And for whatever reason, Netscape (7.2) is noticeably better than IE(6.0, SP2).

Just some feedback:

I haven't been on FT this past week very much, but when I have, I haven't seen any stalls. Perhaps it *was* the search that caused the problems...

RSSrsvp Feb 14, 2005 6:08 am

Yesterday I was timed out while posting several times. :td:

This morning it is extremely fast and I cannot remember the last time it responded this way. ^

RSSrsvp Feb 14, 2005 10:48 pm

It's almost 1 AM in NYC, and it is still extremely fast! ^ ^ ^

EVA Air Feb 15, 2005 2:22 am

It's working great in LA at 1:21 AM Pacific.

Any idea when the search will be back though? :(

ScottC Feb 15, 2005 6:55 am

Been blazing ever since search was turned off.

CameraGuy Feb 15, 2005 7:38 am

VERY much improved. No stalls, no time-outs.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 2:34 pm.
