Do you have to click remember me to log on?
Yesterday & today when I logged on, I typed in the correct info, it said Welcome SkiAdcock & then instead of taking me to MyFlyertalk, it brought me up to the log-in page and said I wasn't logged on. I typed in info again, & same thing happened.
This is different than accidently forgetting to type my password & getting the 1 of 5 tries thing. I noticed that the 'remember me' wasn't checked & when I checked it, then the log on process completed properly. Is it a requirement to have that checked in, or is this just a glitch? Since it says Welcome SkiAdcock before defaulting me back to the log on page, it seems to me to be a glitch. Cheers. Sharon |
Probably a consequence of Flyertalk using two web servers and a change to the defaults that was made yesterday:

I saw that thread John, but didn't think it applied. When I get to the log-on page & key in my info, it says WelcomeSkiAdcock - and I would expect it to then take me to MyFlyertalk - NOT back to the log on page as though I hadn't logged on at all. That's the glitch part (at least in my mind).
BTW - If it's required to click the remember me to complete the log on process, doesn't that defeat the purpose in the other thread? Cheers. Sharon |
Agreed -- it's an unintended consequence of making that change.

Sharon, I'm not sure if this will help, but give this a shot:
Clear out all cookies from www.flyertalk.com and flyertalk.com Close your browser Re-open browser, go to FT Try logging in again. FewMiles.. |
Sharon did FewMiles suggestion work?
I sometimes have the same thing happen (no idea why) but clear cookies and get back in no problem. |
Nope = haven't tried the fix. And at this point not enamoroured to do so. I'm sorry - something I remembered but others did't was decided mandatory.

Cranky...

It's probably a good idea to try what FewMiles suggested. Since we're no seeing a lot of other people with the same problem his solution will probably work.

FYI, beginning this week, when I come into work and log on to Flyertalk, if I do not click on the "Remember Me?" box and then go to another web site, when I return to this one, I have to log back in. This was not the case earlier than this Monday. Used to be when I logged on, I never clicked on "Remember Me?" and was still remembered when I returned, but no longer.
I clear my cache of cookies on a daily basis. Sincerely, William R. Sanders Customer Service Coordinator Starwood Preferred Services [email protected] |
I cleared out all the cookies before I logged onto my ISP & attempted to access FT. I get to login, put in my info (w/o checking remember me) & it again says Welcome SkiAdcock (at which point I expect to be directed to MyFlyertalk), but nope, takes me back to login page as though I didn't already logon, and the only way it will let me in is to check remember me.
Guys, if I have to do that that defeats the purpose. I was good (unlike other FTers it seems) about unclicking remember me when on public terminals. But now if I actually have to pro-actively click on remember me at a public terminal, that's definitely going to defeat the purpose of the change (grrr) - ie, unless you have a suggestion on unclicking remember me before signing off. Of course I haven't tried it yet at a public terminal, so am somewhat (not a lot) hopeful. I'm going to London in a few weeks for biz trip & will access FT from the London Lounge at LHR. If I have to do the pro-active click on remember me to log on, I'm going to be starting a big campaign to have this decision reversed. If I don't, then I'll just accept it's something weird at home. Cheers - and Happy Halloween in advance. Sharon |
Hmm, need an updated browser? :p
Also, what are your cookies settings for the site www.flyertalk.com? (Not sure if this is relevant.) FewMiles.. |

I do believe that those good tech people work with Macs. Try signing on with a brand-new G5 I-Mac. Bet you will find this site much more user-friendly :)
