Listing event on the FT Calendar

I try to list a new event on the FT calendar and am greeted by the message

"Sweet Willie, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:"

how/who do I contact to get some listings posted? Or can someone at FT activate me so that I can do so.

Please advise,

thank you,

Willie

ideas/help please.

Willie, I have the same issues.... :(

Hmmm - I listed two events today successfully. Are only moderators allowed to post? If so, then how are non moderators meant to do so?

I posted a plea today in Community for people to post their events on the Calendar. Now I see that people are trying without success.

Is it possible to have events post with a different color than all the birthdays that are posted? The FT calendar is swamped with birthdays, and it is difficult to quickly pick out events.

I just tried posting an event on the calendar and had the same problem as Sweet Willie and cawhite60156.

A good idea for sure!

Events should be posted on a separate calendar.

Judging from the pop-up list that allows one to choose which calendar to view, I think I can safely assume that the vBulletin bulletin board software supports multiple calendars.

If so, and if the administrative staff is able and willing to do so, I would suggest having at least two different calendars from which to choose: a Birthday calendar (currently called “Public”) and an Events calendar.

I've set birthdays to green for now. As for posting permissions to the calendar for the Registered Members group, I'm awaiting on a final decision...

Dan, thanks for the try. It's not particularly effective. The green isn't distinctive, and when there are multiple birthdays, they still show as blue. Look at July, where I posted two FT events, and you'll see that they show as the same color as multiple birthdays.

Sincerely, though, thanks for being so responsive.

I see that, but I don't see how those two events (or any events for that matter) would be confused with the standard "X Birthdays" tag, even if they're the same color. I've found the template for that, though, so I'll change it to green as well...

No problem... there may be a categorization method hack available that allows colored categories, but there's no "official" feature that allows you to do that yet. So far, it's 1) Birthdays and 2) all else as far as categories go...

Are multiple calendars possible?

They should be, but I haven't gotten final say on them yet...

Dan, have a look at this Community thread, where I asked people to use "Calendars" to post FT events. People tried, then started this thread when they were unable to do so. People also looked at "Calendar" and posted a number of comments about how "cluttered" the calendar is due to all the birthdays posted on it. I like Canarsie's suggestion of one calendar solely for birthdays - and one calendar for events. That of course is if the VBB software will permit two calendars.

We still have unresolved the matter of who can post to the Calendar. Anecdotal evidence suggests that only moderators are able to post. If the posting privileges remain as they are now, what is the method of event planners to use in order to post an event?

Still waiting on that answer myself.
