Why does Posting time reflect GMT?

Before your BIG change, the time I post a message would be reflected in MST because you all were in Colorado. Now, for instance, I posted at 7:25 PM PST, but it shows 2:25 AM. This is very confusing because it is hard to follow when someone has made a post. Do I subtract 8 or 7 or 6 hours? This website is based in America, should'nt the posting time be a US time?

Perhaps Dan or somebody else from the HOM would consider making this question (and answer) a sticky?

I believe it is one of the first topics covered in Canarsie's excellent guide to the new forum, which is the only sticky topic in this forum.
