various error messages

I seem to get Vbulletin error messages all the time. Some examples are:

1) giving out reputation. Even if I give rep to someone just once, someone Ive never rep'd before the system will tell me that I cant give reputation twice

2) flood control seems to pop up always... but, despite the error message my post gets posted anyway...

3) after I reply (using forward or quote function) to private messages, I also get flood control...

Ive tried flushing my IE and FT cookies.... but this is still going on. I am now using a rather slow dial-up connection to the internet from Jakarta, is this perhaps the culprit?

Many thanks... ^

BTW, I also get these weird messages when I start a new thread....

Yes, it could be your connection... all your symptoms above seem to be cookie and/or cache related.

How about "invalid thread specified. if you think there's an issue contact the webmaster" error message? has happened to me everytime i make a post in a thread (not when creating a new thread).

Okay it happened when i posted the first time. the message actually reads...

Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster

any ideas?

If those errors happen repeatedly, try clearing out your cache and cookies and restarting the browser. If it still errors as much, try a different browser and if possible, a different connection (from work, home, etc).

Although we have heard about these errors popping up occasionally, and haven't found a definitive cause yet on the vBB boards, if it's happening all the time to you, it could be your connection.

Dan, it was the connection. I have access to a decent quasi-broadband connection now and the issues have gone away. Thanks again.
