What constitutes a "view"?

The post by ozstamps on the ORP forum regarding views got me thinking. Exactly what triggers the view counter?

If I refresh a thread 80 times a day (which is probably true on the Next To Post thread), is that 80 views?

A view is determined by a visitor entering that thread. If you're logged in, it shouldn't keep counting a reload of a page after the first time.
