This simply means that you have not done enough bad things in the past to deserve such a negative rating. :D :D :D

So, please do something naughty :( :( :(

Of course, being a good guy does not imply immune from bad reputation, just like me. :P :P :P

Speed is still an issue - it is very uneven.

No More "Shameless behavior in the past" :)

I think the programmer of this site has eliminated all rating comments just in the last hour.

No more "XXX has a little shameless behavior in the past".

Everyone is now a member of FT :p :p :p

Very Sloooow Site

I wish we could get an update from FT on what the problem is and their expectations for the future.

An Update.....

I've posted an update elsewhere but hope you can appreciate with the sheer number of various posts - most of them all dealing with the same topic - that it's a little difficult to know which post to update, and still be working on the isolations we're doing to correct the problem.

Here's the update for this thread on April 5, 3pm MST

We beleive that we have isolated the problems which are causing a very unexpected problem with the server performance of FlyerTalk. Literally 98% of the problems are related to the hardware - not the software - and once we have that corrected, then many of you might be forced to go back to the foums you came from and talk travel.

The problems we have isolated so far are realted to load balancing, memory failure, script rewriting and a few other things in the chain of connections. For the record, the old FlyerTalk ran on one server. For this move I ponied up and purchased three brand new servers and other things related so you'd really enjoy FT from an access speed for a long time to come. The way these servers interact with each other is similar to the way that some of you communicate with each other on FlyerTalk - you simply don't hear what the other member is saying, though they insist they are telling you something.

Anyway, we have dropped many features on the relaunch simply to figure out of that was a problem relating to the performance. As noted, none of these features are the problem - only the servers hardware serving up the pages.

We are almost complete with an entire audit of the entire Web site and will likely have the changes and performance available for your comment by the end of the week, if not sooner.

I hope this helps and if you come across any others who haven't read the news - please tell them that contrary to what they may think - we really do know that there's a problem with the servers performance and we missed Spring Break to get it taken care of for you.

Thank You For The Update, Flyertalk :)

Thanks Randy. And thanks to your crew as well.

Randy & FT Tech Staff Rock!

Randy, John, Mike & others - you have my sympathy for the grief you're getting from some of the folk on this thread; my appreciation for all the hard work you're doing & giving up your spring break; and my admiration that you're still willing to do it. There are a # of us who do realize when stuff changes it doesn't always go smoothly (boy, that applies to everything doesn't it - not just VBs!).

Speaking for myself, I love the new FT & it has a lot of great features (including some that are much easier than the old FT). I look forward to getting to know all the nuances even more in the future. For those who don't like it, odds are they're not going back to the old version & if you're really really that unhappy about it, I'm sure there are other boards you can visit.

Again, many thanks guys for all the hard work. Cheers.

Reputation Points?

Yes, slow, slow, slow, even with DSL.

I don't know what the codings, little pictures, are to the left of the threads and messages, don't find them explained anywhere, did search the FAQ's. I see some of them as options below - do I have to remember all those? I'd like to have words display when I moved the cursor over them, I guess. There are a number of others.

I don't know what a "current tag" is that I have the option to close while I'm composing this message.

I don't know why I have title this message, since I thought I was replying to a thread.

I don't know what "reputation points" are, how to earn them, how many are good to have.

I don't know what to bookmark to have unread messages be displayed when I visit each morning.

I have an airport transfer question (FRA, AA to LH) and don't know where to post it.

So, if there are answers, I'd appreciate them.

Sylvia

Well I've been searching on this new site for days and I finally found mention of "reputation points". But alas, it's mentioned by someone as in the dark as me.

Could someone please direct me to where I can find information about the new FlyerTalk? I have read the "FAQ's" and I still have tons of questions.

Or at the very least, could someone please tell me what the heck are reputation points?! It says I have 10 - is that good/bad/what? Should I hide this icon in shame or is it that I really haven't pissed off that many people afterall?

Thanks in advance. I LOOOVED the old FlyerTalk and went thru serious withdrawals while it was down - and I want to learn this new FlyerTalk so I can love it too!

Have you tried researching The NEW FlyerTalk: Helpful Hints, Tips and Suggestions to Enhance Your Experience thread, sk3?

It's more than just a speed problem. The new board is way too complicated- we shouldn't need an instruction manual to understand reading and posting messages! All the little icons, ratings, etc. is just too distracting from the text of the posts. It looks like it's designed for children.

But I'll study the thread you linked - much abliged! :)
