Thread Doesn't Fit My Screen

Sometimes when I open a thread to read it is easly read because it fits within my screen. Other times I have to scroll left-to-right to read the posted threads - can anyone help?

I get the same exact thing. Most times it fits my screen...but on rare occasions it doesn't. No idea what's happening here. Maybe someone can give us a clue....

I think it is usually a problem caused by someone who has inserted a very long URL (link to a web address) in their post. The software that runs these boards does not "break up" the URL, but leaves it all on one line. When the URL is very long, it increases the "width" of the thread and users are required to scroll horizontally to read the posts.

An example from the Omni forum would be the current thread on the Masters golf tournament:

About half way down the first page, Pinniped posted a link to a Yahoo news story - the URL was very long and thus caused the "widening" of the entire thread.

Sorry this isn't a more technical explanation, but I do think this is the reason some threads require us to scroll back and forth to read them.

This could be avoided if people used the "true hyperlink" method explained here:
